Bishop Brossart 75 Holy Cross 57

Alot closer than I expected, congrats BB

Ritual execution of the Indians in Alexandria tonight. Pretty good team effort - Trentman double/double 21/13, Burns 14, Hackworth 11, Rieger 10 and Jake Jennings steals the show night after night with his ball handling/dishing to the bigs. Sophomore Tyler Bezold did a great job for the Tribe with 20 points and is going to be a load for the next couple of years. Leighton Schrand put up 12, and Nolan Schrand hit five 3's in the JV game. Ten Mustangs in the scoring column tonight, nine Indians. Mustang advantage 38-23 at half, 61-33 after three.

Tough, long season for the Tribe, but not due to lack of effort.

This is the youngest Holy Cross, or almost any mid-major program that I have seen. The JVs look younger than their freshmen and the varsity look like the JVs. This is not to be disparaging, actually complimentary that they compete as well as they do (especially the JVs) while giving up so much size and maturity.

I listened to this one on the Bmustangs webcast. They almost had it to a running clock before subbing liberally.

scoring by quarter

BB 22-16-23-14

HC 16-7- 10-24

So glad you put the highlighted in there. So many times, these players get over looked, but just as valuable as those that score.

Master of the change speed, quick acceleration, 5'9" Senior Jake Jennings is one of the most entertaining players I have had the privlege to cover in my years of doing the website and broadcasting games at Brossart, and we have had some good ones. Ultra-quick - head straight up and down - eyes straight ahead - full speed ahead - attack the rim, and then suddenly, woosh, the no look pass to a cutter for an easy score, usually Burns or Trentman. Being an all-state soccer player probably lends to those instincts.

While his legs are churning, his upper body and head never move. Being a horse player I've seen two jockeys in my life that could ride a horse and remain perfectly stationary - Braulio Baeza and Steve Cauthen. While in transition Jake reminds me of them. Kind of a quirky comparison, but it works for me.

Too much fun watching him work his magic.

So does he have a future as a potential saddle jockey ? That would be cool. Just kidding, Jake is a great player and an outstanding young man and gets little recognition compared to the "bigs" at BBHS…he does things that don't end up in the box score. No offense to TAC or Big Andy...

Was good to chat with Mustang a little before he went on the air last night. Those guys do a great job for Brossart !

As far as the game, Brossart clearly with way too much size and talent for HC to handle. The first quarter was fairly competitive but then the Stangs took over and did what they wanted until they got up by mid 20s late in the 3rd quarter. Classy move IMO by Coach Code to start getting guys 6-10 in his rotation to finish 4th quarter. Another solid effort tonight by Sophomore Tyler Bezold. He battled Burns and Trentman all night long giving up a lot of size. Trentman is a solid player, love watching this kid play the game.

The Freshman and JV were very tight games with Brossart winning each in the last minute of the game. Like Mustang mentioned earlier, HC has 8th graders playing Freshman and Freshman playing JV and so on...I will say that I've seen all but 2 of HCs games this year and they play hard to the end.

Good luck to Brossart rest of the way and also in the upcoming All A Classic. They, along with NCC have an excellent chance to do damage down state and hopefully one of them can bring another All A state title back to this area.

No offense taken, as you may know I am president of Jake's fan club.

To the Indians' credit, I'm pretty sure an 8th grader (5"2" Nolan Schrand) led the JV's in scoring, hitting 5--3's in the process!. Appeared only 3 upperclassmen played meaningful minutes in the variety game. Hat's off to their effort. Good job by BB in winning a game they should win--It's not always the easiest thing to do.

Can I be the Sergeant at Arms?

If you have ever seen grandpa Neltner or grandpa Jennings at a game you would know that job is already taken.
