January 7, 201412 yr Well, I doubt they'll go with tripleheaders for Saturday and Sunday if they can milk it. Besides, the Saturday games are already playing on short weeks. Yes, but wouldn't you agree that it would create a scheduling/logistical nightmare to have the Monday night winner play again either on Saturday or Sunday?
January 7, 201412 yr For the people advocating a Monday night game on Wild Card weekend, isn't that typically the college championship day?

January 7, 201412 yr How can anyone complain about more football? I'm a basketball guy saying this BTW. Forget an 18 week season. GIVE ME MORE PLAYOFFS!!!!! Doesn't half the league in the NBA make the playoffs? And almost every college team gets in the tourney... It's fine for them, but we don't need to water down the NFL playoffs, they're great the way they are. A few years ago we had a 7-9 team in the playoffs. You add two more teams and you will see more of that IMO.
January 8, 201412 yr Yes, but wouldn't you agree that it would create a scheduling/logistical nightmare to have the Monday night winner play again either on Saturday or Sunday? Goddell seems OK with the Monday night idea, and it appears he's ready to double down with a Friday game. Story
January 8, 201412 yr Goddell seems OK with the Monday night idea, and it appears he's ready to double down with a Friday game. Story I have hated most of Goodells moves and ideas since he became commissioner. This is just another one of those. I don't like the idea of more days and more games. It is the beginning of the watering down of a great thing. More playoff teams makes the regular season less and less important. The problem with the NBA and NHL is that the reg season really doesn't matter much when 50% of the teams make the playoffs. The NFL is headed down the same path.

Same can be said for ky high school I guess. I am ok with more teams but I'm in the camp of seeding top 14 teams.

In HS Football the teams don't play against eachother in the regular season. If they did then it would be easier to limit the number of teams. In NFL and NBA and NHL the teams play eachother so you already have a pretty good idea before the playoffs start who the best teams are when seeing the matchups because they've already played a lot of times.
January 9, 201412 yr Personally I like the 7 team idea. I also would like to see it be the 7 teams with the best records, but I don't think we'll ever see a departure from the division champ setup we have now.
