Anyone else notice Drew Barker made First Team and Honorable Mention? And DeAndre Farris made Second Team and Honorable Mention. Definitely a well thought out and well proofed list.

The third thing that jumps out at me is the lack of NKY players.

I think it is simply the same as the other all state teams named, the coaches didn't nominate or vote for many of the p,ayers deserving. Simple as that. You know me, and I may sound very biased, but it does get a little old with each of these lists being named that when you've seen some of the p,ayers not listed on here and knowing how hard they've worked and watching them p,ay this year and being among the best in the entire state the entire season yet constantly being left off these things has gotten very frustrating.

 

Ive bitten my tongue long enough and I may come off as being bitter but it's to the point that it has become a joke. I am not taking anything away from any of the kids honored and mentioned. I am positive they all deserve to be honored here, but to continually keep the same kids left off these teams does get frustrating especially when you see how many players for each position are being listed. When you go down to include even HM's yet one of the most consistent recievers and state leading recievers through the majority of the season in receptions and yards per game is continuosly left off these teams is beginning to be a joke. It's not only him either, it's other players more than deserving but are also always left off is a joke.

 

Im sorry it comes off this way but it is a slap in the face to some of these boys and I really hate coming off this way but it has to be said. It's embarrasing is what it is. To be named 1st team all star for NKY and 5A all star yet not making any of these state teams can never be excused and that goes for any of these players left off. I've talked about another several times, K Henderson who played safety and was among not only state leaders in tackles but also through most of the season was top 15 in the entire country, yet has been left off of every one of these teams. It's sad.

 

Again I apologize, but after watching some of these players bust their butts, playing hurt all season and putting up record setting stats being ignored time and time again simply upsets me beyond anything. I feel so bad for these boys not to recognized time and time again. Maybe it should be that the only teams like these should be put out by KHSAA themselves and they can force all coaches to nominate and vote so it's not always just the same schools and teams being recognized everytime and they can have a real all star team.

So thankful you noticed some players that are very deserving yet have been ignored in all of these honors. These kids busted their butts, I can only speak of one that I know first hand..Fussinger played the entire season with a grade A shoulder seperation from the 3rd game of the season yet still did whathe did the entire year playing both offense and defense. He has started physical therapy just 2 weeks ago and no surgery is needed, yet he was able to put up record setting stats for the school and I kind of lost it in this thread, I apologize again but so dissapointing when someone like that who like others played hurt the entire season yet played both ways and still accomplished what they did yet being overlooked just upset me a bit.

The coaches vote for the Courier Journal, but to my knowledge, there is no formal nomination process for coaches to get their kids on the AP ballot. I think that is strictly media nominations and voting.

 

If I am wrong, someone correct me. And, I will have to admit, if I am suppose to be nominating my players for the AP Team, I have failed to do so every year since 1992.

The AP outlets have to nominate players for the AP All-State. I don't remember the number, but there are not that many AP outlets around the state, maybe someone can help us out with that.

I think kicker Sean Neurnberger, Oldham Co making HM is a travesty.

 

And kicker Tyler Pack, Johnson Central set a new state record for FG distance and did not even make HM. I know the controversy around the record setting FG, but he obviously is one of the best kickers in the state.

Since we are on the subject: do you care to share how you evaluate players? Not judging you, just wondering, do you base your voting on video, news outlets, word of mouth, do you do any research? I ask this knowing you are busy and would probably like to devote more time to evaluating players, but are limited in the time department.
