I somehow forgot to put it in my original post but congratulations to Nacarius!

 

I never got a chance to watch him play but anytime someone wins an award like this, they have to be a special player.

He is a very shifty kid can change direction very fast.

He is one of the funnest recievers I've ever watched. Not the fastest but sooooooo smooth. He is sneaky fast in that he just glides by the defender and before you know it he has seperation. The thing that stood out to me about him is he made catches look effortless and all he needed was the ball in the area and he is go an come down with it and make it look easy.

 

I mentioned this a while back but it deserves repeating, my son became a huge fan of his last year after they played in the state title game against eachother. He said Fant was so nice, never talking trash and always gracious to his opponents. He said he was so classy that he became a fan instantly of his. There aren't a lot of players that come across and leaves you with such an impression while playing against you. N Fant left that kind of impression on my son and I never forgot that.

 

I watched a couple more games this year that were streamed online and the kid is the real deal. Insaidnsev months ago, althoughnJ Quick got all the publicity, and well deserved last year, I'd taken Fant over Quick if I was starting up a team.

 

 

Classy player and I am very happy for him, and he gets to play for his home town college team, how cool is that!?!

Congratulations Nacarius! What a career! 3 Straight State Championships! When he was just a real good player his Sophmore year to when he starred his Senior year, his team never lost a game. That's saying something because they played quality teams (X, Lex Cath, J Hardin, W Central, McCallie, Blackman and others). In most, if not all, of those games, Fant made big catch after big catch not to mention his return yards.

What is the deal with how late this award was announced? It's anti-climatic. It should be announced very soon after State Championship week. Is it poor organization? Are the voters focused on Grandma's egg nog? What gives?

I just think the timing is off. If you win, I'm sure you could care less of when, but that's not my point. To me it's more aggravating than suspenseful and should be awarded at the height of the HS football season not in the snowy off-season.

It would be nice if it was announced and awarded during the state title weekend.

Very happy for Fant. Many of us lobbied for him to get it, but he is the one that made it happen. We will see bigger, stronger and faster receivers but it will be a long time till we see the hands! He was remarkable at simply catching the ball.
