To be completely honest, I didn't know what happened. I thought a T had been called when I saw Bolden at the line. I'll look at the film and get back to you.

Walter, I read some complaints about the officials. You've got video. Put up the plays where you/others thought they made bad calls.

 

Not too much off topic, but I spent about 30 minutes during the Harrison County-Augusta game talking with two of the BBA officials (Bo Queen and Kevin Walter, who had the Mason County-Russell County game next).

 

Like 'em or not (and I generally like these two), they are CONSTANTLY watching the game, "evaluating" the officials on the floor. Probably once every 4 or 5 minutes one would say something along the lines of "I had a play a lot like that one", he would say when it was, who the teams were, how he called it and why.

 

I very much got the sense that they were "working" even when sitting in the stands.

You find yourself watching the officials a lot when you wear the whistle. You're looking to see what you might do and you're looking to be ready to offer counsel if asked by the officials working - that happens a lot.

So really a 57-51 game through final 3 qtrs when Holmes had their Full compliment. they Meet again in the tourney I would expect a battle. Hatton wont go out without a strong fight.

I'm going to guess it's in the 400 range.

If you were going into the lane there was going to be heavy contact in this game. Fouls only called on the more severe occurrences. Put two hands on a guard and the whistle blew. Not sure that is right but it was called this way for both teams. This allowed Beetle to be open for long range threes and Hatton to muscle his way to the basket for impressive physical baskets. I liked the way this game was called.

 

Nice win for the Bulldogs and pretty impressive improvement for Dixie.

With the exception of the opening night debacle against NewCath, Dixie has played pretty well thus far. Really didn't expect them to be leading Holmes after 3 quarters. Holding Chames to 1 point was huge...betting we don't see that again this season.

Dixie had less than a week to prepare for Newcath. As everyone knows, I'm a big fan of the Breds and have built a great relationship with their players. With that said. NO WAY they beat Dixie by 30 if they play again. Dixie has improved greatly since those first two games. The biggest area is their defense. They flat out get after it at that end. Their offense also runs much smoother now that Hatton has settled in and the players around him have realized their roles and what they need to do for Dixie to be successful.

 

Bolden might have went off for 30 in only 3 quarters, but Liam Rabe's defense on him was outstanding last night. Ask a Dixie coach and they will tell you they couldn't have defended him better. He simply is that good and made some tough shots, which is what big time players do in key situations.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that Holmes' has more depth than people give them credit for.

 

Brolley, Housely, Glover, Revels, Hill, Avery, and Herndon play the entire first quarter and play well enough to have Holmes in the lead at the end of one.

 

Housely carried Holmes the 1st quarter with 7 points.

Also need to mention how well Andrew Hedger played for Dixie last night...kid had 8 pts 11 rbs against probably the most ATHLETIC front court in NKY.

Had I not been standing where I was, I probably wouldn't have noticed it, honestly. It was right in front of me though. Bolden goes up for the shot and Moore is grabbing his arm to pull him down. Nothing malicious about the play, but definetly the right call.
