Randy Parker Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 1. Ballard 2. Hopkinsville 3. Newport Central Catholic 4. Trinity 5. Holmes 6. Knott County Central 7. Warren Central 8. Doss 9. Wireman Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 I think Perry Central is a little too high but only time will tell. From what I have seen, they are a two man team.
Walter Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Top 5 teams are right, but I'd go with the following order: 1. Ballard 2. Trinity 3. Holmes 4. Newcath 5. Hopkinsville Honestly, I think you could put T, Holmes, and Newcath in any order and not be wrong but I don't think I'd put Hoptown ahead of those three.

I haven't watched Newcath or Trinity yet though.

Walter Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Have you seen them this year? I'm going off of what I saw from their returning players last year at Rupp. I do plan on seeing them in January though at the Joe B Hall Classic and should have a better idea then if my opinion is off base or not.

Hoptown has the best win of the season by a team not named Ballard with an 8 point victory over Warren Central on a neutral court. They earned it. T barely beat a Bowling Green team that was missing its best player along with other football players.

I liked what I saw last year but from seeing Newcath, Holmes, and Trinity already, as well as Ballard, if they are the 2nd best team in the state, they have improved a lot from last year. I should have a better after I see them in Jan.

But I still have a lot of basketball to watch before I make that official proclamation lol.

The beauty of this poll, is that someone in the loop has seen them all at one point or another this season. But I agree, it's really arbitrary to rank teams in a poll. I agree with Wireman that PCC won't win vs. KCC. Cordia is a mystery. Fun just discussing it all.

I personally think Holmes and Newcath are better than T but gave them the benefit of the doubt with Spalding slowly coming along. Holmes beat T over the summer with Bolden dropping 25+ and holding Spalding without a rebound. Newcath is REALLY good. There isn't a team in the state that can match up with them when it comes to size. Can they handle teams with athleticism is still left to be seen. I'll take your guys word on Hoptown since I haven't seen them this year but from what I saw from their retuning players last year, I still would like Holmes and Newcath odds. Have you seen Holmes or Newcath this year?
