So, as some of you know, my precious Focus was totalled Tuesday. :cry::cry:

 

Well, my daughter worked at an auto dealership for years, and still has friends in the industry throughout Louisville. One of her best friends works for her dad, who is the GM at a Toyota dealership. Today they told me that they'll work my deal personally at dealer cost. So...it looks like I'm getting a Toyota.

 

With my commute, I'm strongly considering a Prius or Prius C. But, I've been a bit concerned about the reviews of the interior.

 

Anyone have any insight into the Prius? Gotta be honest...50MPG is a HUGE pro for me. But in particular, I'm superficially concerned that the stero will be crappy and I won't have Siruis any more. Comfortable drivng is a huge concern as well, as I spend 3 hours a day, minimum, in the car. Especially at the beginning, ease of getting in and out will be a concern as I have banged up my knees pretty badly in the wreck. I also tote my mother around a fair amount, and she needs to be able to get in and out with relative ease.

That said the mileage savings is MUCH higher in town in stop and go driving, driving interstate or long distances the mileage reduces significantly he said.

Rats! My commute is all stae roads @ ~60MPH.

Looking into it, the newer Prius models seem to get much better MPG on the road than the older ones (his is 3-4 years old)...don't write them off yet.

I am on my third Prius. I have always gotte better mileage on expressways than in the city. Going back and forth to Florida i averaged about 54 miles per gallon.

 

I have never had anyone complain about being uncomfortable in car, including my cousin's 6'3 daughter.

 

Also, I have Siriusxm in my car.

 

Long story short, I will continue to drive a Prius until someone convinces me there is something better.

Buddy of mine has a Prius....Not my cup of tea, but he loves it, it's very spacious on the inside, and the fact that he gets well over 50MPG doesn't hurt.

Never been in a Prius, but a buddy of mine has a new Camry, and man that thing is nice....

Agreed... They are bigger, safer, have more standard features and get better fuel mileage than the Camry or Sonata.. There is also a hybrid model Fusion that out performs the Prius...

I owned a Prius a few years ago and really liked it. Gas mileage was great in the city and on the interstate. I was surprised at how much leg room everyone had also. The only reason I had to get rid of it was we had a new addition to our house. Traveling with four people, a dog, and luggage was a bit too much. I now drive a 2013 Fusion Hybrid, and it's easily the best car I've ever owned.

After seeing the image of the wreck, why dont you just buy another Focus (or Ford) ? If you came out of that wreck with only minor injuries I'd repeat the car. I don't think a Pruis "wins" many wrecks?
