College is ball on the 25. Teams can get a first down. Each team gets an opportunity on offense. Play as many OTs as necessary but must go for two point conversion in 3rd OT.

 

NFL is an extra period. If team with the ball first scores a TD game is over. If a FG game continues until team with ball second either scores a TD or turns the ball over. If team with ball first did not score a FG ends game. If both teams score a FG game continues.

 

Alternative Plan or sometimes called California plan: A coin flip determines who will have possession of the ball first. The ball starts at the 50 yard line and then the teams alternate possession on every play. At the end of six plays, the team who has gotten the most yards in the opponents territory wins.

I like the KY overtime rules. I am not aware of games lasting longer than 2 overtimes in KY. So I am not sure if there would be a need for change.

Strange fact: When St. X of Ohio was playing Brentwood TN Academy at Rylefest games one year in early 2000s the Overtime would have been played under KY rules even though neither team was from KY.

Ohio high school rule is the best for high school. Opportunity for a first down makes it real football.

It is just a California Plan not necessarily the OT rules for the state. It is used in age 6-12 football allegedly as a way to break a tie game quickly and still remain relatively on time.

That makes more sense in youth football. I was under the impression it was the rules for high schools as well.

I prefer the college rules over any other. By putting the ball back that far you allow passing teams room to work. A lot of high school passing teams get bogged down in the red zone.

I agree 100% with Tiger. Need some room for passing teams.
