January 9, 201412 yr Author Do tell. Also, from looking at your times, we get A LOT closer to the same as the distance gets longer. We probably get closer if I am wearing a wetsuit since I have the buoyancy of an anvil. It is a chore for me to tread water, no joke. It is so bad that I am mocked by my swim instructor all the time. However, I am incredibly strong in my upper body so anything to raise my hips and legs I can hold my own with the best... errrr... average of them.

January 9, 201412 yr Author Well let's hope Memphis is not wetsuit legal. :lol2: :lol2: It was last year but the water can fluctuate easily since it is only 5 foot deep. The year before it was not. Last year my swim in Memphis I believe was 30 minutes. Without a wetsuit it would have been at least 40. I am telling you, I suck at swimming. But the difference between a good swimmer and bad swimmer means very little the longer the race is.

After lots of thought and trying on a few I settled on the Helix. Just not a big fan of wetsuits in general.

January 9, 201412 yr Update. For those that have been in the discussion for awhile, you will remember that my wife was very, very active. She's completed a Tough Mudder as preparation for a Half-Ironman and done a marathon. She was to begin training for a full Ironman when she was diagnosed w/ Nodular Melanoma. She had her second surgery in the beginning of December to remove lymph nodes in her groin. They came back negative, and she had her drains removed 3 weeks later. One day after getting her drains removed, an infection set in that put her in the hospital for 8 days. She has a LOOONNGG road to recovery. Her treatments start in 3 weeks, but she's lost a ton of muscle and weight as a result of being off of her feet for essentially 7 out of 9 weeks. Keep thinking of her. Her goal is to finish a marathon at the end of the treatments. She's determined to crush this thing.
