In my honest opinion, I think it favors the Rams. Pikeville plays on turf and the O-line and D-line should be controlled by Raceland.

We had a wonderful officiating crew from NKY at our game Friday night and I have heard that we may have the crew assigned to the State 1A Championship game for this week's game vs Pikeville.

Very true, last week's crew was very good. I am always worried about crews from other areas, each area has certain tendencies, but the NKY crew we had last week was great. I'd prefer to have them again this week.

 

Just, for the love of God, don't send us any Lexington crews, ever.

Raceland's size, strength and experienced has been talked about more than the speed, that's for sure but Raceland also has speed, quickness. As much as Pikeville I don't know, probably not but I believe that Raceland's speed has been overshadowed by the other factors. Raceland's O and D lines have been dominate in every game this season. The play calling has been, imo to use the obvious advantages that the Rams line has had.

At this stage of the playoffs pretty much all teams are good in every facet, some more in certain areas than others maybe but All Teams in the "elite 8", for lack of a better term, can play. This game should be a very good one, could go either way imo. As most games, turnovers, mental mistakes will be key. Also, aside from the mistake, turnover edge I also believe that the most Physical team will win. There will be plenty of good old fashion "slobber knockers" / "snot slingers" being thrown from both teams.

Good luck Rams. One game at a time. Be mentally tough and stand together. Represent our area.

Maybe it is wishful thinking but I think the Rams will take this one for their first ever regional championship. It is hard to believe Raceland has never won the region, as good as they have been over the years, but I think this is their year.

 

Pikeville's offense is very good, they can score and sometimes in bunches. Their weakness has been on defense as they have had to basically just outscore some teams this year to get some of their victories. Raceland seems to have enough offensive firepower to get their points, and the reason they will do so in this game goes back to their advantage in the trenches. If Raceland can win the turnover battle and get a few stops on defense, they win this one and move on to the semifinals.

This is my reasoning for this week's game. Last year, we won at home, 54-14 and completely dominated the game. We laid the proverbial egg in the playoffs at Pikeville by losing 26-20 in OT. The problem with that game is that we moved the ball and played decent defense but they squib kicked and used their home field advantage (field turf) to successfully recover 3 kick-offs to keep the ball away from our offense. We only had 2 possessions in the second half before overtime. We were ahead 13-7 at halftime and were pretty much doing what we wanted to do offensively. But when we can't recover the squib-kick, we were hosed. I look for a more focused team and the revenge factor to come into play Friday night.

Focus does not seem to be a problem for the Rams. If you can "will" yourself to win, I think they are good. There seems to be some harbored feeling from last year's playoff loss.

 

The work has to be done, to Deserve Victory.

I am not so sure about any revenge, to me the motivating factor should be to WIN a Regional Championship. Should this Rams team want to be considered "elite" compared to all other Raceland teams then win a Region Title. Raceland has been in countless Regional Title games, have won 20 District Titles.

So, Rams - if you want to be in the conversation for "Best Ever" in this long line of excellent Raceland teams.....Winning the 1st Region Title will go a long way in accomplishing that goal.

I was referring to the fact that we went into last year's game overlooking them and thinking about having another shot at the team from Westwood. Yes, we have played much more focused this year. I was just referring to that hurt that still lingers from last year. We all need closure.
