It has been reported in other threads, most recently the Monday Morning QB article (LINK) that Ram posted, that Fairview lineman, Cody McPeek has enrolled at Ashland and will play next season.

Former Fairview left tackle Cody McPeek will be blocking for the Tomcats next season, it appears. McPeek has enrolled at Ashland Blazer, putting himself in position to create holes for Quinton Baker, Jake Long and Hunter Prince next season as a senior.

 

The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder is a Division-I prospect. So is Baker.

 

How is it that he can transfer to another local school and not have to sit out a year?

 

Which of the exceptions to Bylaw 6 (LNK) does he meet that will allow him to qualify for a waiver of the 1 yr period of ineligibility?

I have no first hand knowledge to the following, but I would venture a guess that an apartment was rented for a "bona fide" change of address.

I have seen a kid transfer from Boyd to Russell and not have to sit as well as two kids from Rose Hill to Ashland and they didnt have to sit and none of these had a change of address.

With all of the mess at Fairview, let the kid play. Hasn't there been enough drama in Ashland?

And as I said in another thread; where is the integrity of Ashland? They turn in Fairview in football and Rose Hill in basketball but welcome all the kids in with welcome arms. I don't like it, not one bit. Transfers happen, fact. But you don't have to accept people or their children involved in transgressions. Cody, to my knowledge, is not guilty of anything but the whole Ashland turning in the transgressor's of the area and then taking the talent from those school's for their own gain.......

You do realize this is the son of the former Fairview Principal/AD/Assistant Football coach that supposedly missed that a player was held back and played High School Football five years, right?

If the intent of Ashland was to gain players by turning in Fairview then you can question the integrity. If that was not the intent then there is no question as it relates to the transfer.

It's funny. I don't know all the specifics but it sounds like cheaters will continue to cheat. No lessons learned at Fairview.

I think it is odd that it is such a big deal if the kid(s) in any sport is thought to be wrongfully enrolled at said school and Ashland is the one who reports it yet when the program is punished, i.e. Rose Hill basketball, those players are welcomed into the Tomcat family and adored and the school and fans think it's ok.

Sorry, Tusi. Yes, I do believe you are correct. I am of the assumption that his dad will find another job and he will go with his father for next season anyway.

I didnt know Ashland thought McPeek was wrongfully enrolled, and Bush and Gregg as well for that matter. My mistake.

Maybe, that is what I am asking.

The question was "How will he be eligible" I dont know, but I gave two instances of a dad losing a coaching job and not changing addresses and his son being allowed to transfer without sitting in the 16th region within the last 3-5 years. Was this taken into consideration when being considered? I don't know but if it was then there is definitely precedence in this situation.
