Will Cody McPeek be eligible to play at Ashland next season?

Featured Replies

This was taken directly from the KHSAA release, has it ever been reported that Ashland reported the infraction or is it just "common Knowledge"

I doubt it was ever released. Just common knowledge.

The most intersting scenario for BGPers would have been if he transferred to Raceland. :D

LOL...There is probably a better chance of winning the lottery and even though he is a legit D1 player and the Rams will be graduating several key linemen .....I am glad.

I doubt that would ever happen.

But, many would be surprised at the number of athletes that Raceland has turned away that live out of district. Turned away a lot more then they have allowed in. First and foremost, every time, the student/athletes grades are looked at. If they don't help the school academically, they are told to keep looking. Second, every time, the conduct records are looked at, if they have had any behavior issues, they are told to keep looking. Then, and only then, are they allowed to enroll.

And, if they are "In District" and have a behavior problem, they are told they are no longer welcome there. And, before anyone asks, it has happened.

:thumb::thumb: One of the first things brought up "well, Raceland has players from other schools" or something to that effect, usually from the county school to our south and the one a mile away.

SO, lets get this out of the way.........YES, Raceland has a lot of out of district kids, some of them do participate in athletics and yes, some play football. What people don't realize or there are some that don't want to realize or admit is that most all transferred at a younger age than high school. Their coming to Raceland was their parents choice, moved them in the system for academic reasons and couldn't care less about football or any other activity for that matter. Raceland's academics, the high school education provided is the school's #1 Sense of Pride and any sport or other activities are behind. YES, We are proud of our Football, no doubt about that and should a kid transfer to Raceland, meet all the requirements....grades, discipline, medical, etc and want t play any sport then they can play.

Ram, you are 100% right. There have been transfer request from some pretty good athletes that missed the requirements and were turned away.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I really don't think McPeek transferring to Ashland is going to hurt Raceland one way or another; regardless of whether he stays or goes after the school year. He's one guy on a team of 40-70 players. He's a good player, but personally I think the Roark kid from Fairview is better. I'd be interested In knowing what Division 1 teams have actually "offered" him a scholarship. Cats Pause cover or not, I highly doubt UK has offered him a scholarship.
