November 10, 201312 yr Well since no one else has made this thread yet. Horrible game by Dalton and the offense and yet the team still had a chance to win. The defense is the one with all the injuries, and the defense played amazing. Just goes to show the depth this team has on that side of the ball because I was even worried about the defense. The offense and Dalton was horrible and there is nothing else to say about that.
November 10, 201312 yr Author I said it all off season and all season long. This years team success depends on Dalton, and Dalton has been bad the last two weeks with bad mistakes and the Bengals have lost the last two weeks because of it. It shows the talent on the team though because even with all the mistakes from its QB, the team still has had a chance in overtime the last two weeks. So I am going to go back to putting Dalton down, because he sure played great when I joined the critics and just put him down. The Bengals really do need to address the QB spot if the Bengals fail to make a run this year.
November 10, 201312 yr Author I know Jay Gruden runs the west coast system, which is built off of short drops. However Dalton is horrible with pressure in his face, so if that ball does not come out right away the offense is screwed because of the short drops that allows pressure to get to him quicker.
November 10, 201312 yr To answer Hammertime's post made at the end of the game thread, I will answer it now. I didn't have time to answer it before the thread was closed. Yes I felt at the time and still feel the same way that going for 2 was the Bengals best option to win the game. The offense hadn't been able to do anything and in OT you have to depend on your QB to move the ball down field and Dalton simply couldn't. His two longest passes resulted in 2 horrible throws that 1 AJ had to come back for because it was underthrown by a good 10 yards and we got lucky he came up with it, and then the hailmary. So the best bet for the Bengals stealing a W that game was to go for 2 at the end of the game after the hail mary.

What a dreadful game today to watch. Gruden must use the DICE app on his Iphone for play calling. He is just awful and so predictable. We gash them with runs and then he throws long passes on 3rd and 2. The 4th down sneak to start the game was terrible and that set the tone. They are just bad offensively and teams are doubling Green. Marvin Jones has disappeared just like he did the first 6 games, totally had a ball taken from him today. Bernard was averaging 4 yds a carry today, go with your averages and let him get the 4th down on a run. Not an uphill flare behind the line of scrimmage. Then he loses his mind and runs 15 yds backwards forgetting it was a tie game. Just awful football.

I would add that the Bengals need to address the QB position EVEN IF the Bengals make a deep run this year. Dalton is what he is and will always have these games that make you scratch your head. He will never be one that consistently puts together NFL QB caliber games. After 44 NFL starts, he is what he is. He will have games where he makes great throws, but there will be even more plays where he looks like he has the majority of this year. The Defense played great today, but they can't do it every single week. The Bengals are losing games (And yes it's only 4) but they are losing games they should be winning if they are to be a contender this year. I just don't see them doing much in the post season unless the defense carries them like the 2000 Ravens, but this defense isn't that good.

There is no way the Bengals should of even had the opportunity to win that game, but when it is handed to you, you have to take it, especially on the road and after the way they have played all day. There wasn't one ounce of evidence that showed the team could move the ball 80 yards for a TD in OT lol. Our WR's are avg at best. We have 1 NFL starting caliber WR and the others wouldn't be 3rd, 4th or 55th string WR's on most teams. Sanu and Jones are not starting WR's. yes they pull out a great game here and there but no where near the consistency a NFL WR needs to be. And anyone who thinks Hawkins is the answer better think twice. It's sad that your defense is so banged up as FC pointed out yet still outplays the offense even with the weapons we do have on offense. We have Gio who should get 20 touches a game, we have Eifert who is our 2nd best reciever....if Dalton can actually throw the ball to him instead of forcing him to divve or try and catch passes behind him, and we have AJ one of the best WR's in the game...the problem is we are handcuffed with a liability like Andy Dalton.
November 11, 201312 yr Author Whitworth was abused today. If he is not healthy then he needs to not play, or move down to guard. At least at guard he won't have to work in as much open space.
November 11, 201312 yr Whitworth was abused today. I've said since they moved him to tackle years ago that he should of stayed at Guard, he's much better at guard. Tackle he needs to be quick and too many times DE's just speed rush around him and he whiffs.
November 11, 201312 yr This I one is on Dalton. Don't know if I go for 2. I am ticked they didn't try the long fg in Miami and today in ot.
November 11, 201312 yr Defense deserved better. There's maybe 3-4 offensive players playing well. Not a formula for success.
November 11, 201312 yr Defense deserved better. There's maybe 3-4 offensive players playing well. Not a formula for success. Yes they did. FC said it best when he made the statment about most of the injuries are on defense side of the ball yet they still played best today. Defense can't win every game...they aren't the 2000 Ravens.
November 11, 201312 yr The defense has been wrecked with injuries but they are the unit that's kept them in the game the past two weeks. I thought they would be the weak link but the much hyped offensive talent has failed to play consistently.
November 11, 201312 yr Didn't see a snap of this one, but it sounds like bad Andy was on full display. Need to right the ship against Cleveland next week, and they'll still have a strangle-hold on the division.
