If that was JV, unless "several" means 10 on each side of the ball, you got nothing next year. They were small and slow and not athletic as a group. Pleasant was the exception, although the QB was decent, didn't look to be a back-up. But I'll take your word for that.

 

I predicted Scott's success this year based on what I saw in 2012....a roster full of Juniors who were already playing Friday nights, and although Cooper KILLED them, I saw a hungry, talented, super-fast group of ballers. I'd say 90% of those boys are graduating and I am not remotely impressed with what's coming.

 

No mix up on stories, don't remember the question being asked. Scott played a very limited JV schedule, only a couple of games. The JV group competed pretty evenly with Conner the week before with the regulars. Danny Fitzgerald is in line to play QB next year and was out with a concussion that week (a freshman Jake Ohmer was playing the position that day). As a group, you're right, that bunch is as talented. However, mixing the few pretty good players in with the group of Sophmores and juniors that are already playing at the varsity level, Scott will still be ok. Still will have a shot a another winning season with the schedule. But if the talent at the Freshman and 8th grade level continue to progress, they will be right back where they were this year, and possibly better.

Scott has the same problem Conner, Boone Ryle and Cooper has. Being a public school they will have success in waves. Cooper had a great years in 2012 and 2011 but after graduation this year they lose the majority of their starters and skill players and the JR class this year has only a handful of players. They will be better 2-3 years down the road but it just goes to show it is never a constant.. Conner this year is the same. They will lose their big skill guys after this season and may have trouble next year. I don't know how many of Scotts skill guys and O-line graduates this year, if it's a lot they may be in trouble also. I don't care if others try and say public schools don't have a disadvantage, but they are wrong. Especially when you put closed enrollment on top of it. Scott doesn't have closed enrollment and if I were at Scott I would do my best to try to bring in some players there now. Strike while the iron is semi hot.

 

I think next year however may be Scott's best shot at winning district only because S. Oldham, Cooper, Conner will all be down due to losing a lot and if Scott is returning some key starters on the line and Rb's they may be able to take advantage of it and keep their momentum going from this year.

Wow, that stinks.

 

They are in trouble I am afraid unless they can get some transfers in there. Then the question is, wherre would they try and get the players from? I'd think the schools they would most likely pull from have better teams and would be hard pressed top get some top players to leave to go to Scott.

 

Next year I think that entire district will be down. Should be interesting.
