Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Monday that Jones was upset over the play of Jetsreceiver David Nelson, who hauled in eight catches for 80 yards on the day. A source told the newspaper that Jones threatened Nelson with payback for what the defender considered to be dirty play.

"I'm going to find out where you live and come and get you," Jones told Nelson, per the source.

"(Nelson) was playing dirty," Jones told the Bengals' official website. "He cut me like four times after the play. Thank God I took my medicine today -- I guess -- and I didn't go off. Hopefully, he'll get fined. At least three fines. There were three real cheap shots after the play."

Jones -- who had a pick six in the win -- also told the site that he bickered with Jets coach Rex Ryan in the second half. "He told me to shut the hell up," Jones said.

Report: 'Pacman' threatened N.Y. Jets' David Nelson - NFL.com

You may be right, but this stuff is probably said to some degree in every game. One has to wonder why Nelson would say anything. Usually, players keep trash talk on the field. Unfortunately, Pac Man made his bed on these types of statements a long time ago. New York media is a whole different animal, also.

Pacman probably has a couple of years left in the league but I imagine it won't be long before he trades one set of stripes for another.

Not saying I disagree , but talking trash wouldn't be the reason I felt it. So many things are said in the heat of the moment in athletics. This is what we classify as over blown and no big deal. If Pac-man saying this like this got in the opponents head I'd tell him to keep doing it.

Assuming the report is accurate I believe that goes beyond trash talking.

I wish he would have said it to Steve Smith.

From what I read, the Jets player was playing "dirty" and going after Jones' knees after the play was over. Sounds like standard trash talking to me.

Wow Ru, when did you get so PC and soft? If that's considered over-the-top for NFL trash talking, then I'm willing to bet there ain't a cow in Texas. And Rex Ryan? Pulleeezzz

You never played playground basketball growing up. That was PG compared to things I heard and might of said. Just don't let it leave the field of play. If a guy is trying to ruin my career with dirty play he deserves whatever words I have.

I guess its all about the era or even the area you grew up. But talking has always been part of the game to me.

I draw the line at what I perceive as possible criminal activity.

He could talk about his girlfriend, his momma, his sexuality, etc. but nothing criminal.

Comparing kids on the playground to a man that has been arrested more times than we can count!? Apples and oranges...

Where did he say he was going to do anything criminal?

Again, I said perceive (and apparently Nelson thought the same).

To answer your question, the comment in bold.

No, Nelson didn't feel that way....

“I wouldn’t say it was a threat,” Nelson said, via Matt Ehalt of ESPNNewYork.com. “I’m not going to say that he threatened me or anything like that. He did say some stuff on the field, but I wouldn’t take it as a threat.
