I don't know about ya'll, but, I can't wait for some of these last week regular season matchups:

Small School Matchups

4) 1a Frankfort @ 2a Danville ... 2 traditional powers meet up with more than just bragging rights on the line. Danville needs a win to wrap up the 2 seed and home field advantage in the 1st round. The Panthers have already wrapped up it's district championship, but, after a few blowout district wins in the past few weeks, needs a playoff like atmosphere game to help prepare them for what's expected to be a deep playoff run.

3) 3a S.Warren @ 1a Russellville ... The Panthers will likely be an angry bunch after losing out to Mayfield in it's district championship game last week and will want to make a statement against a solid ranked 3a team and get there swagger back for the playoffs. S.Warren has been a dominating defensive team all year and with exception of the Daviess Co game, have been more than adequate on the offensive side. The only knock on them is there schedule has been less than stellar and a win against a highly ranked and respected Rsl'ville team would do wonders from a confidence standpoint.

2) 2a NCC vs 1a Beechwood ... Throw out the records in this one. This is one of the bigger rivals in the state and, yes, bragging rights do matter. Both teams have had there moments this year, but, have also had some trouble with consistency and want nothing more than to get a pulse of there team heading into the playoffs. Both come in with big game experience and a tough non district schedule. Regardless of the outcome, they'll both find out a lot about where they stand and what they need to work on to get better.

1) 1a Mayfield @ 2a Caldwell Co ... 2 undefeated teams ranked #1 in there respected classes. Both have explosive offenses, so, it may come down to who has the ball last. Both teams have had other business to take care of the last few weeks, but, make no mistake, they've both had one eye on this one all season long and should be one of the best games of the year in any class.

Big School vs Small School Matchups

3) 5a Scott @ 3a Mason Co ... After an outstanding 7-0 start to the season, Scott has taken it on the chin the last 2 weeks in 2 hard fought district games and needs to get back on the winning side of things heading into the playoffs. Mason Co sits at 9-0 on the season, but, much like S.Warren, has had a very suspect schedule and a quality win over a good 5a team could go a long ways from a confidence standpoint. should be a good one that could go either way.

2) 2a CAL @ 6a Male ... Male comes in after 3 tough district games, finishing 2-1 in one of the toughest stretch of games anyone could imagine. Still, at 8-1 on the year, the Dawgs look like one of the best teams in the bluegrass this year. CAL, comes in undefeated and has one of the stiffest defenses in the state, regardless of class. That Desales win earlier in the season, opened a lot of eyes, but, this one may even be a tougher task. A win or even a competitive loss would do wonders for these guys. Can't wait to see how this one shakes out.

1) 4a J.Central @ 3a Belfry ... The title of best in the east is at stake here. Both teams come in undefeated and highly ranked in there class. Belfry's played the tougher schedule, but, JC has probably been a little more impressive against common opponents. It's important to both these teams, but, maybe more so for JC, as they seem to have a little more to prove and need the momentum a little more, as there playoff run looks to be considerably tougher than the Pirates, especially in the early rounds. To me, this is the top big school/small school battle.

Big School Matchups

3) 5a Conner @ 4a Cov Catholic ... The Drew Barker led Conner team came into the year with high expectations and started out the year strong. They've since been up and down and are desperately trying to find there groove and consistency before the playoffs start. CC will definitely be a tough matchup, but, a win here could carry them a long ways, maybe even to Bowling Green come the 1st of December. CC has looked outstanding in some games and not so great in others and, they too, need a win to boost there confidence as they're looking at some tough early playoff games.

2) 6a Henderson Co @ 4a Owensboro ... The Colonels have had a solid season, but, are coming off a tough district loss to newcomer McCracken Co and need to get that swagger back in a hurry, because some tough playoff games are on the horizon. The Red Devils have also had a solid season, but, need a big season ending win on there resume and Henderson offers such a win.

1) 5a Anderson Co @ 4a Collins ... 2 teams with high expectations coming into the year. Collins has a couple of losses on the year, but, to 2 very good teams, while Anderson has 1 loss to another very good team. This one has me intrigued and should tell us a lot about what we can expect from them in the playoffs.

In-state vs Out of State Matchups

3) Cinci Mohler @ 6a Trinity ... T has been treading in unfamiliar territory this year and not been quite the juggernaut of years past. 99% of the Ky folks had the Rocks penciled in as the 6a champs coming in, but, after some uncharacteristic losses, have these same folks thinking this may be the year to get them. a win over a power house GCL school would do wonders for there confidence and swag and they'd like nothing more than to end the regular season on a high note.

2) Cinci St X @ 6a St X ... St X may even need a win more so than Trinity. They, too, had high hopes for the year and could very well get hot and run the table, but, a blowout loss could kill there confidence. This GCL team will be a tough task, but, a win could push the Tigers over the hump they've been trying to get over all year long.

1) Blackman, Tn @ 5a B.Green ... If there were ever a game that threatened the Purples win streak, it's this one. Blackman comes in at 8-1 on the season, with it's only loss to the states #2 team, Oakland, 9-3, this past week. BGreen needs this type game to stay sharp for the playoffs as they've coasted thru there district the past few weeks. Well, the competition level just went up 10 fold and if they want to be considered the states best, need to play well and win, especially being at home. It should be a great one.

Are you saying Danville needs the win to break a tie in their district? Interesting. I still go with Frankfort in this one. They both have wins over Green Co. and LCA but the Frankfort defense did a better job versus those two opponents than Danville's. I take the defense in closely matched games so my pick is Frankfort.

No contest in this one. South Warren by more than a couple TD's. The South Warren defense is impressive.

You are right, throw out the records. This is one of the most hotly contested non-district games in the state. Both teams have good skill players. This game will be won in the trenches. Beechwood's interior line needs to show they have improved and that they are ready for the tough lines they will see in the playoffs. I think the line is better and Beechwood has more playmakers. That will give Beechwood their 3rd win in the last 4 years versus NCC.

Now this is a game I would love to see. Two great offenses going at it with excellent QB's. Caldwell's weaker schedule may hurt them a little in this one, but the Murray common opponent score favors Caldwell. I really think Caldwell has a chance to pull off the upset, but Mayfield's big game experience and confidence in themselves that they will find a way to win will get the Cardinals the win. This should be a classic!

Scott really, really needs to win this one to put a good stamp of approval on their season. If they lose this one, Eagles fans are going to have to deal with the weak schedule based doubters. I think the Eagles need this one for a confidence boost going into the playoffs. I am taking Scott in this one because they really need it.

Great season CAL. But Male is a little too much for them.

Hmmmm. Interesting. Belfry is having an incredible year. Johnson Central is too. I really am not sure how good Johnson Central is. But I think they are better than Belfry.

Another tough one to call. Barker versus the Cov Cath defense. Is Wagner coming back at QB in this one for CCH? I believe the Colonels are going to be at full strength on offense and that will get them the win.

I am going with Henderson here.

Collins had an impressive win over North Oldham, but Anderson Co. is too much.

Moeller is very, very good this year. I don't see Trinity getting a win in this one.

I don't know why, but I think Louis. St. X. gets a big program win.

1) Blackman, Tn @ 5a B.Green ... If there were ever a game that threatened the Purples win streak, it's this one. Blackman comes in at 8-1 on the season, with it's only loss to the states #2 team, Oakland, 9-3, this past week. I have no clue but I will be following the updates closely.

Very nice job MHS! :thumb:

I have my thoughts in blue above.

VOR

The Murray common opponet score does favor Caldwell but a series of errors led to a Murray lead of 18-0 and they grind it out eating clock like our ole buddy Eye of the Tiger eats whoppers. The other common opponet is Ft. Campbell where the score favors the Cards.

This will be a exciting game to watch, espically if your a offensive fan

I don't see any plausible way Lou X will get blown out. In fact I think it's quite possible Lou X can win by 2 scores given the improved qb play.

By the way, I see where a Lou. X player, OT John Kurtz, has committed to play in Cincy X's backyard, at U. of Cincinnati. Congratulations to him.
