Touching Scene....

Featured Replies

At the end of the Tates Creek / Madison central game, Tates Creek star receiver Tavon Dunn was injured on a kick return that left him on the ground, not moving and unresponsive. This led to the final minute of the game to be run off and the remainder of the game cancelled and an ambulance to take Tavon to the UK Emergency Room.

In a time where folks are worried about not shaking hands and what not, this was the scene between 2 rival schools praying for a fallen player. Surreal scene.....

All State and NKY, apparently those prayers were answered. Believe it or not, from this scene where we all felt the worst could be possible, Tavon walked out of the ER at 230 AM that evening no more worse for the wear. Thank you for the kind words. Tavon is a great young man, and was a very scary time for us all.

Glad to hear it. :thumb:

I was at the UK ER with our player, Zack Litteral. I was there when they rolled Tavon in still with his helmet on. I left a little after midnight and it was so cool to see so many players, students and parents in the waiting room eating pizza and waiting on news of his condition and just being there for him. Great scene and great TC family. I'm glad he is ok.

Hats off to the Central staff, kids, and parents who were ever so gracious and concerned. The kids and staff prayed, the parents and families consoled. Was very impressed with their handling of this situation. Was touching to see so many people sharing that love and emotion that we all felt at that time. I wont forget that feeling.....

IT's great stories like this that put the idiocy of the whole handshake thing as well as how serious some take sports in general and puts it all into perspective. Thak god Tavon is OK. Great scene, thanks for sharing.

But, more importantly, did the officials rush off the field before this melee began?

And THIS is what's right with high school sports. Two coaches/schools who get it.

No doubt! Glad the young man is ok, that's some scary stuff right there.

A good friend of mine in Texas is the son of a high school football coach and was a student trainer/student manager at Texas A&M. He said you'd really be surprised at the number of players who were deeply religious. The area of the country may have something to do with that, as church is a big part of the community in most East Texas towns, but I was somewhat surprised by that.

First class by both schools it should never come down to not shaking hands after a competition. Jd
