Don't know if it works the same in football, but I noticed that in basketball, when the Lexington-Fayette public schools boycotted Lexington Catholic other than required games, they seemed to fare better against them when they eventually met. Maybe it was just an anomaly, that the principles don't transfer to the gridiron, and/or that was just my erroneous thinking, but I do think there's something to be said for the teams keeping it closer than they might have otherwise because the teams are not as familiar with one another as they may be otherwise. That would include game planning and strategy to a lesser extent as well.

The sad question is, who has Manual played? That school has had so much talent out there lately and they stick with the Rocks for a good part of the game but it just seems the Rocks' tougher schedule preps them better for district and playoff ball. Also, I hate to say it, but which coaching staff would you want at your school? The Trinity staff is slowly turning a bunch of ordinary players (except for one bona fide superstar, Bonnafon; one star, Brooks; and an experienced senior center Price Kmetz) into a coherent unit. The O line has evolved way ahead of schedule, the D line is solid, and the linebackers look terrific. Except for the Colerain game, in which the final Trinity td came on a broken last play, making it 42-28, the Rocks have been competitive in their losses (losing the other two by a total of 4 points).

I agree. I think Trinity is on the uptick. They are improving----no surprise with a Beatty-coached team. I look for a big effort this Friday from the Shamrocks.

Manual has some quality wins, but they haven't played anyone on Trinity's level. It would take Manual having a near perfect game to beat them. I'll take Trinity by 21, 35-14.

Manual gave up 20+ points to Seneca and Fern Creek. I think T can put up 30+. Not sure how effective the Rams passing attack is. Nero alone won't be able to put up enough to win. Give me Trinity 33-13. Autograph session after the game!

I believe recent history suggests a 3-4 touchdown victory by the Shamrocks. I have seen Manual play once and they struggled mightily with Ballard. Nero is good & Motley is a good HS QB. I simply do not feel the Crimsons have the horses in the trenches to press Trinity on either side of the ball. Look for Bonnafon and Brooks to have 100 yards + each rushing the ball. Passing should net another 200. Rocks may allow 150 yards by Manual....100 by Nero. running the ball. 28-7 or worse.
