September 17, 201312 yr I am not sure you can judge anything UL has done all season. All three opponents are really bad. We may never know all season how good or bad UL's offense/defense is. I guess the only rationale is that up until this point UK is the most challenging opponent UL has faced. While they were not in danger of losing, they certainly didn't look the part of a top 10 team. To me the offense has too many pieces to completely fall off the map. They have the top rated QB in the nation, the offense will be fine. I was surprised though as to how UK was able to move the ball in the second half. That would be my biggest cause for concern. In all the talk about the schedule, put aside the national championship game talk. My biggest concern would be that my team would not be challenged enough leading in to the bowl game. My point. My friends can't seem to grasp this idea.
September 17, 201312 yr It's got nothing to do with contact. Like every QB get pressure on them and they become average. Force them to make throws they normally wouldn't or rush the throws they usually excel at and you get TB in the first half. In the second half the front line for UK was tired and thin and couldn't get the same pressure. Plus UL's line just did a much better job with protection, that combined with the success they were having on the ground and TB had a much better half.

My problem is we discredit those two games because they can be looked at in a positive light in terms of how UofL has played. Yet when talking about UK, a team who everybody says is equally terrible, it's somehow okay to judge UL's performance. I just don't understand how that makes sense.

My logic was based off the fact that out of the teams that UL has played UK is the only team with an ounce of credibility, and they underperformed (which has been the general consensus on this board).

They played one "poor" half of football. Won't be the last. The game was never in doubt, even on a "bad" day for UL. You guys are placing way more stock into that game than you should.

I just want to see UL play big time football. If they win out we will see that at the end of the year.

Not sure why you say that. Ohio has wins over North Texas and Marshall, both are 2-1 teams with decent wins. Heck Marshall beat Miami OH as bad as KY did, 52-14. And North Texas handed Ball St their first loss. Obviously none of these teams are powers but at this point they have just as much credibility has UK.

But I understand he won't be getting paid to get hit next year. I've only watched him a few times, mostly highlights.
September 17, 201312 yr Agree & UK showed everyone what to do against him.. Hit him he hates contact. That is obviously the key to frustrating and slowing him down, along with just about every other good QB. Unfortunately, UK could not continue the pressure in the second half.

John Anthony is harder on Louisville and Bridgewater than most with good reason; it might not be true of every team and every QB, but an unbeatean UofL and Teddy would leapfrog a one-loss OSU and Braxton Miller to the championship and Heisman. The B1G isn't the most revered conference in post-season play, and Ohio State's schedule is only considered a small step up from Louisville's by the talking heads who think football begins and ends with the SEC.

You're joking right? Cal Northwestern Iowa Wisconsin Penn State Michigan Illinois Those 7 games would all be the toughest opponent UofL would play all season. I hate Ohio State with a passion, but to say their schedule is only "a small step up from Louisville's" is just plain insane.
