If we are going to be complaining about fans and singing fight songs then how about opening another gate or have a couple tables at the entrances so we don't have to wait 45 minutes to get into the stadium. I thought I was at Kings Island in line for the Beast and the smoke signals that the concession stand was sending onto the field was ridiculous. Ok onto the game... Opening drive Cooper looked excellent and if I'm not mistaken I don't think they had a third down on the drive. They punched it in and made it look easy. I honestly thought it may be a long night for the Camels but thenthe "Lickert Led team" made adjustments and held cooper at bay. Great job by O-Line, Avery Wood and Alex Howard ran the ball like they were possessed by Earl Campbell tonight. Nice win Camels and I love the fact that they are "Lickert Led" because dude can coach, motivate and lead.

 

Yea, the gate was a problem. They have a pass gate where those with passes and folks working the game etc can get in but for some reason they were letting people buy tickets at that gate also which made both gates extremely long lines. Hopefully they fix that by next home game.

 

As far as the fans on the field etc. like I said in my first post about it, I just thought it was odd but didn't bother me much. The singing I think could have been done where they met after the game instead of where they did it at. Maybe they didn't think about what it looked like at the time so live and learn I guess.

Not sure why, it was also very odd seeing their fans run on the field as if they just won the BCS championship lol. I didn't think much of it until they stood outside Coopers lockeroom shouting the fight song but whatever.

 

During the game it was a really hard fought game for both teams. Game could of went either way. Turnovers finally got the best of the Jags this game. Both at very bad times of the game. 1st won when Jags were up 6-0 and driving again down to the Camels 2 yard line and the Jags fumbled. 2nd turnover when Jags down 1 score and driving again thru the air and a 1st down catch for 21 yards and the receiver coughed it up on Camels sideline near their 26 yard line.

 

I think the Jags have something like 9 turnovers in first 4 games. Can't win many games that way.

 

I will say the silver lining of their 2 losses so far is they had their chances to win both.

 

Ludwig also did another good job passing tonight. I think he may have had 70+ yards passing in just the 1st qtr.

 

Jags players need to keep the foot on the pedal when they have their chance to. Seemed the wind went out of their sails after the first turnover.

 

To Camels credit they are really big on the lines and controlled both sides of the ball up front. Wood isn't a Durham but he can still pound the ball. Good kid, fun to watch.

 

I'm not sure when the tradition of coming on the field after games started but I can see where it would rub some people the wrong way. I honestly don't think any disrespect was intended.

 

Ludwig played lights out. Very good at extending plays. I almost hated seeing third downs come up. Seemed like no matter the distance he was able to extend the play and pick up needed yardage. Avery Bricking also had a fantastice game.

 

Hats off to the Camels D. After the first drive they seemed to come into a zone and had a fantastic game. Another outstanding job from the O-Line and the running game for the Camels.

I was still there, in the stands, and I guess they sang it over by the buses? But I can promise Coach Lickert would shut that down quickly if he felt they were being disrespectful or taunting. To try and make people understand, Camel fans go on the field after every game, win or loose for the post game talk. They sing the fight song after every game by their buses.

 

Don't leave out the Camels had the Jags 4th and done when a late hit, personal foul gave the Jags 15 yards, 1st down and the ball back. That set them up for their last TD.

WTH, this is a huge win for CC. They knock off defending State Champion RU and they are not allowed to celebrate. My lord people ya better get used to having a target on your back because you better have some thick skin or they will eat ya alive. What Cooper did last yr will label you as a very good program and will draw the kind of attention, reactions and more importantly the reactions of your own fan base when you lose one that you believe you should win.

Wasn't it you who told me earlier in the week to act like they've been there before when talking about the Jags?

Maybe that fits more toward CC last night.

After having a night to sleep on it there a couple things about the game that stuck out to me.

 

First the positives. The Cooper offense is really good through the air. I think the Ludwig -Fussinger combo had close to 100 yards in just the 1st qtr alone. They couldn't be stopped as they marched right down the field on their first two possessions with a run here and there tossed in.

 

Then the Jags tried to mix it up on offense and tried some new things that didn't work, but you learn from the good and bad and move on.

 

On defense It looked like the Jags stayed in their base defense and didn't really adjust to the run, thought they played too far off the line and CC could run right up the middle with no safety help.

 

CC is really strong up front on both offensive line and defensive line. I think their lines may have had 50 lbs on each one of Coopers linemen. But that has been the norm of late.

 

Overall a really good game and hopefully this helps prepare both teams for district play.

Before you start spewing things you need to get your facts straight.

 

1. No one was rushing the field and for as long as Coach Lickert has been coach at CCHS he allows the parents to come to the post game huddle. WIN or LOSE, they did it Highlands after losing to them.

 

2. I think you need to expand on where EXACTLY the kids sang the song. They sang the fight song behind their busses and they have done this since beating Dixie last year. The ONLY reason it was close to Cooper's locker room is because the people from Cooper told the bus drivers where to park.

One thing I wanted to add about last night.

I wanted to give kudos to Cooper's Chorus. They did an outstanding and best rendition of the National Anthem That I have heard in a long long time!!!

 

They sounded great!!!!

Cooper started the game with all 11 men within 4 yards of the line of scrimmage. Appeared almost a 6 man front with the outside backers playing in close. In my opinion they loosened up a little as the game progressed. Of note, Cooper had several players going both ways. Don't know if fatigue was a factor or not.

 

Last years defensive squad (cooper) was a bit more athletic than this years. I was expecting to see the same this year but did not.

 

As a Camel fan, was pleased to see Cooper mix it up and away from the pass later on. When they ran trips left, exploited us every time with an underneath route.

Couldn't agree more with the trips. Cooper marched right down the field on their first 2 possessions using that but then went away from it in the 2nd and 3rd qtr it seemed, or out of the trips they tended to try and run more in those 2 qtrs, either way it didn't work once they stopped throwing the underneath routes. The defense did play closer to the line on the first Camels offensive possesion and it worked and you are right that they seemed, especially the safeties to drop back into coverage more which gave Campbell County chunks of yards up the middle when they ran. I thought the defense got way too relaxed and it cost them.
