Where is the district at this year?

In reality only one team from 9th goes to Lexington. I guess it does not really matter how they get there. Just seems kind of strange to play a "championship game" that really means nothing more than a patch on the old letter jacket.

 

Pretty sure it means something. A district winner draws a district loser for the first round of the regional tournament. This helps filter the teams that shouldn't make it, using your theory. It also can set up really good 1st round games. For example, you could get a Holmes/CCH/Beechwood versus HHS/NCC regional matchup.

Malachi, I see where you are coming from. My buddies from Ohio can't believe that our post-season can be 2 and out (assuming you lose at the right time). I'm okay the way it is, but you aren't the first to question the way the Districts send teams to the Regional Tourney.

The two teams that advance from every district are in opposite sides of the bracket for the regional. Therefore, Holmes and CCH couldn't meet in the regional until the finals.

How would you seed the regional? You'd have to make sure each and every team in the 9th plays the other. If not, you get into ranking the teams, better yet, you get into the "BCS." :eek:

Why are these not seeded? Either Newport or NCC is gone before Dayton even plays? Dayton gets lucky on one night and they're in the regional tournament. This is ridiculous. A team moves into the regional tournament even after losing in district championship? Is there any other state where a team moves on after losing a tournament game? Somebody please clue me in on why this is best to determine our regional champ. I just don't get it.

 

Relax.... Dayton still has to win to make it to the Championship game where they would most likely lose. NCC got the bad draw... they have to earn their trip to the region in the 1st game....I see an NCC/HHS final like always but would actually like to see Newport knock off the breds.... Newport is much like Holmes and would be a nice warmup for the Birds before Regionals.
