September 14, 201313 yr How many of the Reds runs they gave up tonight were due to defensive liabilities of Ludwick? I know he lost the ball in the lights in the first inning and then a couple of the bloop hits, if he had any speed at all, should have been caught or at least an attempt at a dive to catch.

The ball in the lights...anybody can (and everybody probably has) done that. Not gonna put that on him. There were a couple of others that both he and Choo seemed to pull up on. Could they have got those diving? Don't know. Never really saw a side angle to see exactly how close they ended up being. But, with what happened to Ludwick in the season opener, I'd be very surprised to see him diving head-first for anything. Sure you could put in Robinson or Heisey, who both have some more speed and might be able to track some balls down that Ludwick couldn't. But, I think Ludwick gives them their best offensive power threat of the three...which is why he's in there. Bottom line, you're not going to win many ball games scoring only one run. The team has got to start hitting again.

September 15, 201313 yr Oppo, or right field? Pulled down the line in right. In an earlier at bat, he flew out deep to that same corner. But the homer, was a BOMB. It hit so far up the fair/foul pole, that it wasn't even in the standard camera shot. They said it measured at 470 ft.
September 15, 201313 yr Mariners beat the Cards, and Pirates knock off the Cubs. They're once again tied at the top, with the Reds 2.5 behind. Also, Nats finally lose. Sitting 5.5 back for final WC spot.
