Personally I'd love to see them play but the logistics is kind of tough to overcome unless they played on a Saturday. One of the problems I always had with the State Championship games being held in Bowling Green is the drive. Riding on a bus for 4 + hours and then be expected to get off the bus and ready to play is tough.

UC lost almost their entire team. Also the fact when HHS scheduled Elder back in 2011-2012, that was the year Elder was the worst they have been in a while, finishing 3-7. mcpapa does have a point.

 

 

Why just focus on 2011 (a year by the way that Elder had discipline and injury problems, that I sincerely doubt Dale could have predicted when he scheduled Elder)? Last year Elder beat Moeller during the regular season. For those not aware, Moeller won the blooming Ohio Division 1 state championship. If you can beat the team that went on to win the Ohio Division 1 State Championship, you are a dang good football team. Elder lost to Colerain by one blooming point last year in the playoffs. That doesn't sound like a team that's a team that's a bit down. Unless you think Dale is a moron that can't see what Elder would be like in 2012 or you think he can predict the discipline and injury problems Elder experienced in 2011, I don't see how anyone can claim he scheduled Elder because they were down. Highlands scheduled and beat Cincy St. X (2009), a year they were predicted to be extremely good. They were ranked No. 2 in the country at the time Highlands beat them. Highlands scheduled Colerain in 2005, a year after their Ohio Division 1 State Championship. Colerain had a pretty good team in 05 too. Take some time to see what D1 players Colerain had on its team that year. As for your un-informed UC comment, Highlands scheduled UC because they needed a game after teams backed out from what Dale believed were commitments. At the time Dale agreed to schedule UC out of desperation, he had no clue whom had graduated from UC. And they did not graduate almost there entire team. That is blatantly false as I understand the definition of the word "almost". The newspaper article I read said they returned 5 starters on O and 5 starters on D.

But yet BG is running away from competition seems to be the sentiment I am getting.

I can understand the issues with some of the posters on here but its always best to not stoop to the level of some...Just too easy of an target for some.

 

This is not the way to earn respect on this site imo, you already have something to build on at Cooper don't tear it down before it takes the next step up...Just sayin

Seems to me you have not pulled any punches when it comes to hating on other programs, such as Cooper. So you being a fan of a team that has been very successful and respected, maybe it's you that should actually act with some class. Don't be one that makes your program look bad because of it's fan's elite attitude and always looking down on other schools, especially new schools that have done more in their first 5 years of existence than your school itself.

 

Oh, and one last thing. We haven't been there before so please excuse us for holding last years team in a very special place. It may be something a fan of Highlands will never understand, but after hearing all the talk on here every single year about how KY football is not very good, or that there are only 2 teams that are elite (Trinity and Highlands) and all others are a major drop off, or that 95% of the KY teams are below average, then no we won't act like we've been there before because as you and many others from very good programs like to remind all us other worthless programs in your eyes that when we did get there.....yes it was very special for a great group of boys, coaches and families that put in a lot of blood sweat and tears to get the program to where it is today.

 

So please don't be upset if "We don't act like' we've been there before" because to tell you the truth, we haven't. So for a team that wasn't even expected by many on here or across the state to even win a single playoff game, and a team that didn't have 1 single D1 player on it, beats the odds and proves everyone else wrong on here and makes it to the state title game in only their 5th year of existence, they were the first team in KY football history to get to the title game by playing on the road in 4 straight games in the postseason to make it to the championship game...no we won't act like we've been there before. You know why? Because doing so would be diminishing what they actually were able to do and would be a slap in the face to those who got them there last year.

Paducah Tilghman and Highlands found out a way to make it work and it is a lot further to Paducah than BG. So it shouldn't be a big deal for BG and Highlands to do it. The bus ride is no big deal if you know how to handle them. Mayfield never goes up the day of the game. They go up the day before and stay in a hotel.

I agree. It was a great story. I loved it. Was really hoping that the Jags would win the title, but it was an absolutely great run nonetheless. It was one of those things I was hoping would happen as a result of going to 6 classes.

What in the hell are you talking about? And yes Ru I'd love to see Highlands play BG every year. Games could be played on Saturdays.

 

I will admit that scheduling is a 2-way street. To say that "HHS schedules powerhouse teams when they're down" is only 50% accurate, at best - scheduling is a 2-way street.

 

That being said, let's take a peek:

 

2013 - John Hardin (already beaten by 2A DeSales), UC (already discussed), Elder (almost always a good test), Warren Central (currently 0-3 including double-digit losses to DeSales and Allen County-Scottsville).

 

2012 - Elder (again, a good test but not their best season; 4 losses and crushed by Trinity), Boyle County (5 losses), Western (6-7). Big statement win over Scott County.

 

2011 - Boyle County (9-4), Western (7-6), Elder (last 8 games were 1-7 with the win a forfeit).

 

2010 - the infamous 2 games against Ryle schedule, win over 6-4 Withrow.

 

 

And I'd like to think that all us football fans would like to see HHS vs. BG, T or X. It would be great football.:thumb:

Taking a day off school to travel for a game of any kind would not fly in Fort Thomas. Bus down the day of the game and bus back when the game is over.
