September 9, 201313 yr Believe me, the Texas name and brand still carries TONS of sway in Texas (at least from what I can gather). I think they will find a new coach at the end of the year to right the ship. If I'm Texas, I take a hard look at John Gruden, someone with NFL experience whose been in the commentary booth for a few years, but is still a recognizable name (he won a Super Bowl) who might be looking to scratch that itch.

I can tell you with Gross and Nkimdeche we will have a decent shot of making some hits on their qb though, from what you can find online too Ash is doubtful for next week with a "head injury".

One of the BYU DE's is expected to be a top 10-type draft choice in the year coming up and their front 3 wrecked Texas' line. Texas also lost their best back to an ankle injury early in the game, which probably affected what they wanted to do greatly. Agree on your D-line being very good as well though. Also, lots of similarities between Bo Wallace and BYU's QB.

With the above, just wanted to add that I think Ole Miss is probably as good or better than Texas, and that I'll be rooting for Ole Miss.
September 9, 201313 yr At softball tonight, I gave the UT boys some good natured heckling (kinda chimed in with the A&M boys and did as much as I could as a UK football fan). The UT guys were saying they were really worried about Ole Miss because they thought they did what BYU did, only with better athletes.

Programs that go on long periods of tough times but their tradition, fan base and brand will keep their name strong in college football.

Being down here, you see SOOOOO many kids in Texas gear, meet so many UT alums, that it would take a LOT to break the kind of fan base they have down to that of just the average school.

My sources in Texas say Saban has scheduled a trip to Texas late this week... apparently, he is bringing a lot of people with him. :popcorn:
