Morgan Co. 82 Wolfe Co. 48

No, I am still here. Morgan County played a great game and are a great defensive team. They didn't allow the wolves to get into any sort of offensive set. All the credit needs to go to Morgan County for their win, they are a good team and I wish them luck. As I said before they played Estill County, there are two ways the Wolves would rebound from the loss to Buckhorn, one would be they would have fire in their gut and put that behind them, or they would go into a slump for a little while. Obviously the second part happened. I still believe that come post season time the Wolves will be right there in the running for a district title. By the way I'm just glad everyone has Wolfe with such a high prestige, this is a credit to their Head Coach and what he has done since he has been there. Some people forget that Wolfe is a single 'A' school it's not like they have 6 or 7 hundred kids to choose from. Like I said before show me another single 'A' school in the 14th who has been to more final four's of the reigon in the last 8 years.

Again congratulations to Morgan County on a much deserved win and good luck to them throughout.

Owsley County's been to 3 final fours in the last 8 years...1999, 2000, 2005.

Wolfe County, 1997,1998,1999,2000,2001,2004. With going to the reigon all of those except 2003.

I have no idea, I believe it's still very high. Nathaniel Peyton is still 4.0+ 27 on ACT, I think he's shooting for a 28-29 on ACT.

Not sure on the rest but they are a very intelligent group.

You can not have book smarts and still have a mind for basketball, so idk what that has to do with anything.

WHAT?

You quoted a reply of mine that was a direct reply/answer given to a poster who ASKED what the GPA of the team was. Read the facts first please.

And to say you can't have book "smarts" :creepy:  and a mind for basketball is unreal.

I guess Morgan Co. has been proving that comment wrong for the past 7 years.

Redbird,

You can't be serious with that post. :creepy:

What do you all think? Does the Gilbert kid from Wolfe wish he would have stayed at a winning program(Morgan)?

Wolfe did go to the final 4 of region that many years but not always as Distric Champions. I believe Owsley won the old 56th distric in 1999 and 2000, and went on to win the All A regional title them two years and the next. Powell won the distric by beating Owsley out in the finals in 2003. And not to forget 2005 when Owsley the won distric. Wolfe has been consistant over the years but IMO wouldnt be the top All A team in the 14th. I dont believe that Wolfe Co. has ever won the All A regional title, so if they have never won the tounament of "All A teams", then how can they be considered the top All A team?

I'm basing on how they faired against all the other big schools. Owsley has had a great run too in the last 7 years, and I am not taking anything away from them. Wolfe went to a reigonal final during those years too. They made it to one All 'A' final too. I believe the All 'A' is a great tournament and I RESPECT the champions each year who wins it, I just feel it is just as hard to make it to the final four of the reigon as to win the 14th All 'A'. Again that is not knocking the All 'A' because I would be thrilled if Wolfe ever won one, but up until the last two years the 14th All 'A' has been a race of Owsley, Wolfe, and Hazard. Now you have a lot better teams in it with only one what you would call a easy win. Everyone except Riverside and possibly Jenkins had a legitamate shot at winning this years All 'A' reigon, but in years past I don't think anyone could say that. Again not knocking Owsley as Wolfe County would have loved to won just one of the many they won, I ust feel anytime an All 'A' school is at least given the chance to win the big reigon they would take that over winning the All 'A'.

I agree an all a school would take winnng the region at large over the all a. and i'm just saying that wolfe hasnt won either and comparing winning the All A or making a good showing in region at large , the choice would be easy. Making it to the final of region is an outstanding feat and be consistant in the regional and distric play is as well. Wolfe always has the tendacy to play well againest big teams and big schools, credit to coach Creech. IMO Owsley and wolfe are both considered one of the top 3 all all teams in the region without a doubt almost every year.

Too bad the great rivalry wont be seen in distric play this year. Have fun over in the 55th.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but back when Perry, Williams, Fyffe, and Havens were seniors, wasn't there an article written about their academic achievements. I'm not sure but seemed like it was a widely read paper. Again if I'm not mistaken a couple of the boys had something like a 4.2 G.P.A. the rest were hovering around a 4.0.All this while having a great basketball season that year as well!!!! So shoot me down if you must but I agree with nets Morgan has been proving this wrong. :dancingpa

Isn't 4.0 as high as you can get? I think you may mean 3.2

Maybe 4.0 is as high as you can get but I'm pretty sure that 4.2 is what the paper stated. I know that it was at least a 4.0 average for this group, why else would they have done an article about their outstanding achievement?

I don't want to even pretend to be at the top of the food chain LBF, but I know these guys put up some extrodinary numbers academicaly. I don't think the paper would have wasted their time doing a story about 3.2 G.P.A. Don't get me wrong I am currently working on a college degree and a 3.2 is about where i'm at, but that won't get me any special recognition.

4.2 is correct. Advanced courses count in addition in this way to the overall GPA.

Correct. Forgot about these. Sorry. We all know I didn't get a 4.2 gpa! :D

Thanks Caveman!

I think the article may have ran in the Lexington Herald. Maybe someone else might have more info about it.
