LexCath's freebies have run out. There is not a game between now and the Boyle County game they shouldn't be heavily favored in. Should they stumble or fail to impress, now they could drop IMO. I can understand being upset about week 1 (sort of), but LexCath showed very well against St. X, hanging with them deep into the game. I don't buy the massive amount of spin I've seen from some X supporters as to why that was.

Not sure I am a fan of your crystal ball prognosticating, but heck, I'm not sure in the grand scheme of things it matters much. They will be runners-up in their district, will lose to HHS twice, so whether they are 2nd or 50th in 4A, at the end of the day, it is just something to talk about.

The point is just because Team A is 2-0 doesn't mean they are better than Team B that is 0-2, and you obviously agree with that. Competition matters.

The pertinent questions are

 

1. Would Boyle County have fared better than Lexington Catholic against Bowling Green and St. X.? and more importantly,

2. Who would win if Lexington Catholic and Boyle County played each other today?

 

Of course it is speculative and both questions are debatable, and there probably isn't much separation between the two teams. Ultimately the fact that the BGP Pollsters have Lexington Catholic still ranked just ahead of Boyle County tells us how they feel about those two questions.

The drop is about the injury, not who they are playing this week. Surely you see that logic even if you don't agree with it?

I think Boyle would be 0-2 as LexCath is and today I think Boyle beats LexCath. By 1 point.

You and I both know we have to look at the whole body of work and consider what every other team in KY does before we could possibly make an educated guess.

Just checking. LexCath and Collins have been rewarded for losing to a lesser foe than Moeller.

I'll use Clyde's words here- be careful not to use the 2nd thru 4th quarter against Dixie to serve as the litmus test for the CCH offense. Lets give the CCH staff a week or two to work this out before you stick a fork in the offense. Very creative bunch. Heck- not sure how many teams not named Trinity, St X or Highlands could overcome all they did in that game and still win. As it was, they did make an in game adjustment and it proved to be the game clincher. Give them a week to prepare and I feel confident they will smooth out some of the wrinkles. Obviously some high firepower is lost for several weeks- no one denies that. But let's give the staff some time and I have no doubt the loss will be mitigated.
