I'll use Clyde's words here- be careful not to use the 2nd thru 4th quarter against Dixie to serve as the litmus test for the CCH offense. Lets give the CCH staff a week or two to work this out before you stick a fork in the offense. Very creative bunch. Heck- not sure how many teams not named Trinity, St X or Highlands could overcome all they did in that game and still win. As it was, they did make an in game adjustment and it proved to be the game clincher. Give them a week to prepare and I feel confident they will smooth out some of the wrinkles. Obviously some high firepower is lost for several weeks- no one denies that. But let's give the staff some time and I have no doubt the loss will be mitigated.

 

You are missing the point, I am on the CovCath bandwagon but they were a lesser team without Wags and therefore have a slightly lesser ranking.

I don't think the move was a preemptive attempt to drop CCH in anticipation of a loss to Moeller. Regardless of their schedule upcoming, losing Bir and Wags weakens them, no?

 

Probably, but who knows. Sam Dressman may well spark the team if he is in fact the QB, and the team may play better with Sam at the helm. That is the crystal ball prognosticating I spoke of. Many, not I, but many others, believed Sam should have been the QB from jump. I wasn't in that boat, but I don't think it is crazy to think he'll keep the ship moving. Now, against Moeller it won't matter, but I'm speaking beyond this week.

The drop is about the injury, not who they are playing this week. Surely you see that logic even if you don't agree with it?

 

See my post to Watusi. If Ben Dressman was going to be the QB, yes, I think they become a question mark. If a veteran, stud athlete, who some believed should have been there all along is getting the call, no, I don't know that they are assured of being weaker.

I'm not nearly as well versed as you at CovCath's WR depth, but yes, whomever steps up there isn't at Sam's level. However, who knows what offense they run with Sam back there -- it could be the veer, for all I know. :bunny:

Wait.....Collins loses to a 6A school in week 1 and beats a 5A school in week 2 and is 1-1. CovCath defeats two 6A schools and is undefeated and has slipped from #2 to #3 behind Collins?

I didn't miss your point- I'm just taking a page out of Clyde's book by saying be careful not to judge this team by what they did on the fly in three quarters during the heat of the battle against Dixie- other than the fact that this team knows how to make adjustments.

One such adjustment on defense that few would notice was placing Nelms back out at OLB during the 4th quarterwhere he made two huge sacks in a row which pinned Dixie deep forcing them to make the shanked punt. That good field position led to the game clinching TD which was made after another adjustment to have Sam Dressman run purely at QB with a lead blocker.
