A response to an open letter written to Johnny Manziel by someone claiming to be an acquaintance.

I like Sumlin a lot, one of my favorite "young" coaches...but he can't let disrespect from QB stand. He needs to get his attention and get it quickly or he may lose respect of the rest of the team. You know there are Aggies that are fed up with JM too.

 

Exactly, I feel the same way about Sumlin but have lost respect for him in that area. To his credit, he did bench him after Manziel ignored him but I would send a message by sitting him the entire game this week. Seems that at least from the outside looking in that "Johnny Loudmouth" is just a spoiled brat that thinks that he is above everything and everyone. The first time that something goes wrong and/or when (not if) they lose - that's when his teammates will no longer back him. Should I be one of the O linemen and the game in hand then I believe that I would let him know just how things work by conveniently letting the defense by me / miss a block, fall down, etc. and let him get his butt ran over a time or two just to show him "who needs who" on this team. Then tell him "hey man, I'm just a college kid".

I write off some of his antics as him being a little wound up. I punish him behind closed doors(coach owes media and fans nothing).

 

IF he then continues such antics again this week I yank him during the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if their are a few inside the A&M program that wishes the NCAA would have suspended him for a long time so they wouldn't have to deal with the immature idiot.

 

After seeing him in the first game and getting so riled up after such little heckling he won't be able to handle it in bigger games against what other teams will do to get under his skin.

I think that at this point, "Johnny Football" is a runaway train that is destined to crash.

 

I am just of the opinion that his actions are beginning to snowball, and if it's not one thing with him, it's another.

 

The real test will be seeing how the team handles a loss.

 

 

Look at Tyrann Mathieu. The "Honey Badger" persona became something larger than life, to the point he was no longer "Tryann". I'm really glad that Mathieu recovered and seems to be back on his feet and doing well, but I thought he was much more humble and mature as a football player than "Johnny Football" (or Manziel) is from the perspective of showboating, taunting, listening to his coach, etc.

I'd put one of those dog training collars on him with a remote control. Every time he starts yapping, I'd give him a few volts in the neck...they don't call them training collars for nothing.
