NCC could certainly have used Harris to "back up" their running backs tonight.

Thing for NCC to remember is that they took in on the chin from a few bigger schools early last year but learned from it and won when it counted. I think they'll be ok.

Awful. The cornerbacks/secondary coach and D coordinator need to work on something... There's no reason they should have been lit up like they were.

The one thing that really stuck-out, pass defense, I had "flashbacks" to the NewCath/Holy Cross 2011 Regional Finals watching tonight. blueandgold said it best in the update thread......."I was honestly surprised how NCC never adjusted to it either (replying to a comment about throwing against NewCath). Cooper attacked their secondary all night, time after time". Question.....how about "chucking" the receivers once in a while just to keep them honest?????

 

Play of the game IMO.....NewCath with a 14-10 lead, appeared to add another touchdown on the opening drive of the second half when quarterback Mac Franzen found Nate Enslen with a 51-yard scoring pass, but the play was negated by a NewCath holding penalty, 21-10 makes a huge difference. Breds had more than enough opportunities 6 takeaways!!!! Another big play.... Cooper took the lead 17-14 on Will Ludwig's 8 yd TD pass to Corey Fussinger one play after NewCath was called for a penalty on a Jaguars field goal attempt.

 

The good thing is the Breds have time to work on things and make improvements along the way, which I have no doubt will happen. Jack Sutkamp play another great game on both sides of the ball. Breds need to put this one behind them and focus on the team at hand and move on.

 

Tip of the cap to Coach Borchers and the Jags, they played like a team on a mission, especially in the 2nd half. Bricking, Morgan, Ludwig, and Fussinger all did a GREAT job tonight for the Jags.

NCC might not want to use Franzen both ways but unless they can find another cover guy they may have to. The defensive line did not do much either. But then again hard to rush the passer when everything to the right was wide open all night.

 

Franzen not a pocket passer and it is either scramble and big play or scramble and big loss.

Someone need to tell the Cooper staff that when you have a 9 point lead with 1:30 you need to hand the ball off to a 200 pound kid and get out of Dodge. Having your money QB run up the middle and take major shots 3 plays in a row until he fumbled is not the way to go.
