Really good game. Walton scores just before the half to put them up 14-6 then get a long td run from Lattimore in the third to extend the lead to 21-6.

 

Bellevue fights back and scores with around 3 mins left to make it 21-20. They go for 2 and are within inches off picking it up. No good.

 

Get the ball back one more time and Burt (sp?) gets game sealing int with 32 secs left.

 

Bellevue's first td was controversial as the Walton kid was on the ground, drops ball, refs don't blow whistle, and kid returns it for td for Bellevue. Joe Danneman of 19 showed me the replay and it was clear it wasn't a fumble.

 

Bellevue's defense was solid overall outside of 2 big plays. Small kid on the line wrecked havoc at 5'5 135.

Tight game but WV prevails. #19 for Bellevue was quick up front and gave the Bearcats fits. Bearcat Defense was solid all night and carried the day in the end.

I thought Fromeyer and his crew were pretty solid overall but thay one was definetly bad.

 

I was impressed with Ackerson and his ARM tonight too. Kid can sling it around. Bellevue will look much different and pass more this year. I like what Coach Poynter is doing with this team. Will have to go for 2 after every score though. No kicker.

 

Lattimore brothers were our first ever co players of the game tonight. I liked what #37 of Walton.brought as well. Apologize for not knowing his name.

 

Huff was relatively quiet on offense but played well defensively. Him and Lattimore were going at it when Huff was on defense.

This is sad, you had all summer to work on just one kid to kick the ball 20 yards and it ends up costing you the game. :ohbrother: Hell, get one of the girls that plays soccer. The Dill girl took care of kicking for 3 years a few years back and did a very admirable job.

When sarge says it was a tough night for the guys in stripes that holds a lot of credibility to me. Especially when his team won anyway.

 

Outcome surprises me a little, though frankly I don't know why. Walton has built a nice small-school football program and there track record the last few years proves it. I have to admit I never thought it would happen, but I was way wrong.

 

Bearcats are in a position to contend for a district championship every year, and have winning seasons every year. Only downer for them, they are in the same region as the NCC monster. So post season is three weeks long max.

Agreed...really should have a PAT kicker, however I would have still called the last Bellevue 2-point conversion attempt late in the 4th quarter, even with a really good kicker at my disposal. Bellevue being down 1, I like the call to go for the win. Especially in this situation where WV had fumbled at the goal line and Bellevue recovers in the end zone for touchdown. It was a chance to steal a win right after a momentum changing, demoralizing play for WV. Honestly, it was huge for the Bearcats to shake of the fumble for a touchdown and step up to make a goal line stop to keep the lead. Huge play....crazy finish.

Great early season matchup for the Tigers. Tough loss at home but not too shabby for a complete roster of 21 kids.

 

The offensive line is very young and the offense is going to take some time to develop. Ackerson/Huff and Pointsett are 3 playmakers who can get it done but you have to have the Hogs upfront.

 

Congrats to WV on the road win.
