From what i can see Boone is looking even worse than last year. and i put the majority of the blame for this blow out on the new coach

Random thoughts:

 

Covington Catholic looked good. Overall this CCH team looks built better to compete with Highlands.

Wagner the QB looked really good both throwing and running, impressive.

Sam Dressman is a stud and moves very well for his size.

Sam Hatter (I believe this is 15) looked quick/shifty running the ball.

Defensively CCH looked quicker than I remember. Not real big but solid and that was without Burchell.

Kicking game needs a lot of work. Missed PAT's are unacceptable at any school much less a team as good as CCH. I would probably stick with Litzler.

CovCath dominated Boone but from what I saw CCH's pass defense needs a lot of work, Boone just couldn't capitalize.

Dixie CCH should be a great game.

 

For Boone, it is tough to take too much positive from the game.

This is not fair to Aaron Floyd because he is probably a D1 safety but he is not a QB. Boone needs to think about throwing Peter Westhoff in the fire. This would probably be better long term for Boone and it makes Boone tougher on defense if Floyd moves back to safety.

Just like in the scrimmage, Boone's OL is a work in progress.

Boone's tackling was poor at times and several of the defenders took bad angles and/or did not break down properly. We saw this in the scrimmage too on punt coverage.

The Boone kicker/punter O'Hara is out of sight. Too bad his little brother (a QB) went to Ryle because the parents had issue with the prior coaching staff.

There is a lot of talent on this Boone County football team, the players just need to stay the course.

Conner has to be a huge favorite over Boone, Barker should put up world beater stats against the Rebels.

I wouldn't be too tough on the new coach. One thing he is doing which in a few years should pay big dividends is starting a platoon system. A school that has been around as long as Boone has really need to play a platoon system.

 

The coach came in as Guru has stated, without much at QB. There were never any QB's developed in the system and when Lamb went down he had nothing to fall back on. The coach is in his first year and teaching a different scheme on both defense and offense, it isn't something you would expect players who have been there playing for 3 and 4 years to pick up right away. These things take time.

 

I say in 3-4 years Boone will be a toatlly different team.

Wags was 9/11 211 yards 1 TD

8 carries 89 yards 3 TDs

 

Dressman had 4 catches for 114 yards and 4 carries for 64 yards and 1 TD.

 

Boone had 89 yards of total offense and 3 first downs.

 

BTW CovCath had three Defensive starters out of this game due to injuries, so the depth is there.

I dont feel he put the players in the best position to win. Floyd not playing defense? he's the best they've got in the secondary.

He threw the ball too much. and also Diaw got no carries which really threw me off because In my opinion he's their best back.

I mean for years and indeed we are talking YEARS......., the biggest complaint from the Boone County fans was, we need to throw the ball.

How does that work in the Boone County School District? A parent work in the district?

This parent works in the system and she is well connected. Her kids can go to any of the Boone County schools.

Actually I think Casey Boston is their best back but that is for another conversation.

The big TE for Boone, #84 (Bacigalupo), is a terrific looking athlete. Moves well, huge frame, just needs someone to get him the ball. Had a nice play on a drag route in the 1st Q, and was open in the middle of the field a lot.

In watching them play live in the scrimmage game vs Butler a week ago Thursday and then viewing them in that same game via HUDL, yes they played much better.

 

Boone reminds me of Campbell County last year which CovCath beat badly too. Give BC some time to get their feet wet and you too will see the improvement!
