August 18, 201313 yr Absolutely flawed logic. Hitting 2nd requires getting on base and getting on base only. Yes and no. A lot of managers and just people who coach do like having a 2 hitter who can hit to the right side if the lead off hitter is able to get on. Now obviously if your leadoff hitter is not on, then that means nothing and you need a guy who can get on base. I do like Frazier in the 2 hole right now though.
August 18, 201313 yr Choo has 27 doubles. What the hell is the point of hitting behind a runner if he's on first? The dinosaur age of hitting should be over. Get on base as often as possible should be the only philosophy.

He has and I think that experiment needs to end. erase the HBP and how does his OBP change? I know you guys love the stats. They are what they are. But do you sincerely believe he's the answer at third and the 2hole? If the guy is 3rd on the team in getting on base what more can you ask for from a 2nd hitter? If the guy that gets on base more than everyone but Choo and Votto is a weak link what are the other 5 starters?

RBI, Ks, hits, Slg%? I don't have to quote them, because anyone with internet access can see them, then let's discuss how awesome he's been. He's the 3rd best offensive threat on this team or so it would be portrayed.

No matter how you slice it he's 3rd best on this team at getting on base. Facts are facts. He's 4th in OPS he isn't the problem but he could definitely improve.

Frazier isn't one of them. Votto, BP, Bruce and Meso. Frazier hit in a run producing position, and he didn't. Now everyone wants him in the 2 hole and he can't hit it to the other right side of the diamond. You can like OPS or any other numbers for that matter. He's a problem. The Reds don't have a legit 2 hole hitter. Frazier's sure not one. But he's proven he's not a run producer either. So, he's a 7/8 hitter on a roster with several of those and he plays a position where guys produce runs. I'd say that's a problem.

Your boy Meso would love to have Frazier's OBP or OPS. Let's revisit this when Meso has had as many ABs as Frazier. And considering the position, I'd say Meso deserves a bit more latitude. Frazier would love to have his rearend stay tucked under his torso instead of flying out of the box away from the plate on every pitch. He had success in Milwaukee because they either had poor scouting or poor execution and pitched him on the inner half.
