On September 16, 1904, Brooklyn's Emil Batch hit home runs off Christy Mathewson and Iron Man McGinnity. Their combined W-L records for the season was 68-20.

Pete Rose had 29 hits off pitchers who later became dentists and 9 hits off pitchers who later bacame orthopedic surgeons.

Cool Nolan Ryan Fact: Nolan Ryan pitched 7 No Hitters which of course is the record by 3 over all players and by 5 games over any current player.

The Cool Fact is that Ryan took a No Hitter into the 7th inning 24 more times. The second closest to that record is 11.

Name the 5 pitchers besides Ryan, that have taken No-Hitters into the 7th inning only to lose them on at least 7 occasions.

Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak was third all-time in professional baseball.

69 games for Wichita, Western League, 1919 - Joe Wilhoit

61 games for San Francisco Seals, 1933 - Joe DiMaggio

When Bob Gibson's 47-inning scoreless streak ended, it ended because of a wild pitch. Gibson then pitched 23 more scoreless innings.

70 consecutive innings without anyone getting an RBI.

Anyone hear Jim Maloney on the Reds broadcast talk about losing his no-hitter in the 11th inning and he was not sure how many pitches he threw that night but thinks he threw 187 in his next start.

On April 27, 1930, Chicago White Sox first baseman Bud Clancy played the full 9 innings at first base (against the Browns) without recording a putout or an assist.

The Cleveland Indians played their 1991 home season for 5,055,743 empty seats.

that is unbelievable

The St. Louis Browns drew a total of 1,375,432 fans.

For the decade of the 1930s.

that is unbelievable

I would not violate Rule 6.:thumb:

Here's one that most folks know.

Babe Ruth hit 54 home runs in 1920. No other American League team hit that many in 1920.

I don't know that this is obscure, but no way anyone ever breaks Hack Wilson's record of 191 RBI in a season in 1930.
