My point was, there's no such thing as a "speed trap" like you mentioned. Police hiding isn't a trap. The speed limits are well known on almost every road.

 

Then why do they hide behind bridges, curves and hills. That's crap. Cops are NEVER out in the open. They always try to be inconspicuous. Show me a cop on the flat road out in the open and that's the cop that is playing Words with Friends and not caring about what his radar gun is saying. Then again, everyone will see him and slow down so he can play Words with Friends all day long.

Again, you missed the point. I've never claimed police don't hide. They do (and can as much as they want). But it's not like you don't know exactly how fast you are supposed to drive. It's not rocket science.

Officers assume if you know your rights and deny consent to search that you have drugs in your car. That's an issue in itself.

From what I heard from a mutual friend, he wasn't out of work long, and went from UK PD which has a 401k to a normal dept where the retirement is a pension.

 

If that had been a normal local PD he's have been reprimanded/suspended and been able to come back to work. No way would I ever want to work as a campus cop.

First off, a little bit of advice to everyone. Don't smart off at a checkpoint like the punk taping was.

 

Secondly, the know it all punk was wrong when talking about how to get a drug dog to false alert. Telling the dog to "check here" is not a key to trigger a false alert.

 

How do I know that? I was a narcotic dog handler for years and not one time has any of the dogs I handled ever had a false alert even when I said "check here" and pointed to a spot I wanted him to check. One reason a handler talks to a dog during a search is to #1 keep the dog working on the mission at hand. A dog that searches is very difficult job for the dog, it takes a lot out of the dog and must remain focused. Seeing this idiot post that like he even had a clue infuriates me because he posts it as if it is a fact when in reality he is clueless in a field he knows absolutely nothing about. Then he posts the video and others automatically take it as the truth.

 

Another thing he lied about. When an officer asks for ID, license, at a checkpoint from the driver he has the right to for as simple as to find out if the driver has a valid license.

 

Bottom line the kid was a smart alec and I don't feel sorry for anyone that purposely tries to frame an officer for doing his job by being a smart butt.

No one is trapping you. The speed limits are posted. If you pay attention a hiding police car will not matter to you.

I saw on the news tonight that the officer involved in the stop, A.J. Ross is on his second stint with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. In 2004, he resigned instead of being fired after not showing up for court. He was also cited for lying about whether he had insurance after rearending another vehicle.

 

They also had a legal expert on that said the officer's actions would probably be allowed if a hearing were held but it was right on the border of being over the line. They said that they felt like the officer used the refusal to lower the window all the way to take further action. That was the part that was allowed, the expert felt that the officer went too far in the action--particularly after the dog did not give a strong signal.
