November 20, 201312 yr Had the pleasure of meeting Elvis and his mates with a group of my friends at the Southgate House in Newport back in August of 2006 while they were the warm up act for World Party. My radio station DJ friend also had the amazing luck to be Karl Wallinger's chauffeur for the day. As he is an idol of hers, understandably so, this was monumental for her, as it was for me to meet him as well after his set. He's basically the reincarnation of everything you love about the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Was able to share with Elvis how his music was haunting me and held me captive. Previous to the show I had been listening online before the official "Ash Wednesday" release in February of 2007, and was able to obtain my own copy from him, and have Karl and him sign it. Elvis is a very nice quiet poetic type dude that expressed to me that he had concern that he, at age 30 at the time, was starting his music career too late. I assured him that his music was timeless, and that he could certainly drop that thought from his mind. Told him that I'm the one who should worry as I was aging fast and couldn't bring myself to seriously launch mine. Elvis Perkins is the son of Anthony Perkins, the famed actor of Hitchcock's "Psycho" who died of AIDS on September 12, 1992, and his mother Berry Berenson, actress/model who died on September 11, 2001 as she was one of the passengers of one of the two planes that crashed into the World Trade Center. His brother Osgood (Ozzy) named after his grandfather, is an actor/writer/film maker who filmed Elvis' "While You Were Sleeping" Video. This album has forever possessed me, and I have to approach it cautiously whenever the desire to spin it hits me, which usually happens in the Fall of the year. I literally couldn't stay away from it when first listening, and could not shake away from it's captivating embrace. It was either firmly choosing to stop listening for awhile, or go seek serious help. As we are in the Fall of the year take a wild guess what spell I'm under these days. If I've sparked any interest... If you go to youtube, I'm pretty sure that every track is available. Here is the track listing if you want to listen in proper order. 1. While You Were Sleeping 2. All The Night Without Love 3. May Day! 4. Moon Woman II 5. It's Only Me 6. Emile's Vietnam In The Sky 7. Ash Wednesday 8. The Night & The Liquor 9. It's A Sad World After All 10. Sleep Sandwich 11. Good Friday I'm providing the kick off track and Osgood filmed video for "While You Were Sleeping". Be warned that you, like myself, could fall in love with this album, but be prepared to grow numb with submission to it and have your heart ripped right out of your chest.

November 20, 201312 yr Always dug World Party. Saw his show somewhere a while back. Can't remember where and it may have been SGH. Karl suffered a brain aneurysm in 2001 and didn't resume touring until 2006. The SGH show was August 24, 2006. If by chance you come to remember where you saw him, and it was indeed the SGH, I so hope that you didn't miss the Elvis show beforehand. If you did catch it, and it didn't resonate at the time, it might've been because when he played there it was in the super early goings of his initial touring, and very few folks at the time knew his back story to prompt them to take closer notice.... but then again... I'm guessing that if you ever saw an artist, knowing the back story or not, with the name "Elvis" then you would remember. I've missed warm ups before that I'm still seriously kicking myself about... One that always comes to mind is back in 1999 where Joe Henry opened for Wilco on his "Fuse" release that I love, but knew nothing about him before the show, and let friends steer me wrongly with their extended pre-show party.
