What do you think is unrealistic. Boone is a program with a previous coach that was commonly criticized for being too run heavy. Boone County has the athletes, but it seems that most thought they were not put in a position to win because they were a run only offense. Now, a new coach comes into a program where everyone thinks they have the tools to win but needed to be in a balanced offense to be able to succeed. Now, it looks like they are going to be in a balanced offense, with what people already thought was a complete team.

Plus, Northern Kentucky 6A has not been successful over the years, and the fans think they should be because NKY is competitive in all other classes. He's under pressure to win.

Pressure to win and pressure to at least make the state finals is two different pressures to me. Boone County was 1-10 last season and their closest loss was a 10-0 shutout from Cooper. Any improvement from that should be considered progress and a step in the right direction. If they manage to win district or finish in second or third in district that is progress. If they can be competitive that is progress. If they are more competitive and go 5-5 and people start crying Griffith should head back to BG.

If John Hardin, NCC or St. X don't make the state finals or at least make it to where their season ended in 2012 watch BGP explode.

Yea, but define "pressure". Simply put, St X is not going to lose to many teams, ever. Where is the pressure? NCC is not going to lose to very many teams on their schedule, ever. Where is the pressure? John Hardin is not going to lose to many teams on their schedule, ever. Where is the pressure. Boone whent 1-10, the fans want to win, now. There is pressure.

Again, the pressure to win state is more pressure than 5-5.

You said "5-5" not me. I would say many Boone County fans think they should be in the finals. That's what I mean, they want to win now.

To go from 1-10 to the finals is unrealistic.

I didn't say it was realistic, just that it was expected. That's why the Boone County Coaching Staff is under the greatest pressure.

Lawrence County went 0-10 to 12-1 in back to back seasons about four years ago. It can happen.

That's one example out of how many teams in this state and how many years of high school football?

I'm glad I am in CKY. I don't think I could handle living anywhere else besides CKY or Bowling Green with all of these unrealistic expectations and unnecessary pressure ruining my Friday nights and sanity in general. Coach Griffith never should have left Bowling Green if you are correct.

The new head coach at Breathitt Co., whoever that is. Big expectations, big shoes to fill with Holcomb's departure.

Teams like St. X and John Hardin, who had good seasons last year and return a solid roster, have to have more pressure on their new coaches than a 1-10 team like Boone County. I guess it would depend on the fan base, but both of those teams have rabid fan bases too.

Wolford and his staff are outstanding. There can be no question that they know football. The question i believe is can they relate that to high school kids. Preparation, schemes, even play calling , are well within the capabilities of this staff. The good news is that the staff has the players' attention, and the players are responding and buying into the new system. A new open offense, that is actually used, will give the players even more confidence. For the most part, we have had capable players, but maybe they weren't suited for our schemes. T , I believe, just had an incredible 3 year run with players as good as i have seen in Jefferson county, and schemes that fit those players. When we were winning in the 90s, the tables were simply reversed.

Forgot to add. One question I have never understood is the number of coaches, not just fb, who coach in hs, but never even played the game that they are coaching. Is it my imagination, or is the number fewer than I imagine?
