Average wage in a Walmart store in Kentucky is over $13.00 per hour (not crazy money but much more than most realize), I personally know hourly employees that make in excess of $25 per hour, everyone is eligible for healthcare. As far as the "Govt Dole" that is a direct quote from the UCFW, maybe you didn't get it from them but they started that story. FWIW the average Walmart does from 3 to 5 times as much sales as a neighboring Kroger does. Even if just counting comparable items (no TV's and such) Walmart out sells neighboring Krogers at least 2 to 1. The following story -- and it's fairly recent -- indicates the opposite is occurring in Greater Cincinnati. Kroger has roughly a 40 percent market share, Walmart 20 percent. The Walmart public assistance story was widely reported at the time, and the meat cutter/union stories are easily found via google searches. Be sure to put in "Quebec," and you'll find stories about Bentonville closing an entire store rather than yield on the union issue. * * * * * Walmart may be a retail juggernaut, but it's not invulnerable. According to grocery sales data made public on Friday (April 12, 2013), Kroger has actually gained market share at Walmart's expense since 2010 in the Cincinnati area, a local television station reported. The data, which came from Chain Store Guide, show that Kroger's Cincinnati-area grocery marketshare in 2012 was 40.1 percent, up from 39.1 percent in 2010. Walmart's grocery share was 19.1 percent in 2012, down from 20.5 percent. Sam's Club's 2012 share was 6.5 percent, up from 6.2 in 2010. (Among other large grocery chains in the area, Meijer and Aldi were down while Costco was up.) That doesn't necessarily signal a trend—Cincinnati is Kroger's home market, so this may be a special case. But Walmart actually added a store in the area during the period, while losing grocery market share. (The number of Kroger stores was flat.) Walmart has been hit by complaints that its policy of running stores with as few associates as possible means shelves often remain unstocked or produce goes bad. June 21, 201313 yr Kroger has MANY MORE stores in that market than does Walmart, Walmart does do more per store but Kroger in that area has a ton more stores. Plus Cincy it is home to Krogers Corporate Headquarters. What percentage do you think Kroger would have in NW Arkansas...:lol2:

June 21, 201313 yr Look not being disrespectful but all you know about Walmart is what you can Google or have read in a pamphlet that was passed out. I have spent 30 years at Walmart in every level of job possible in a store (Never filled prescriptions or made eye glasses though). As of last Friday I no longer work there. I have no reason to defend them now, when they are wrong or have been wrong I'll call them out on it. But don't believe the hype, if Walmart was has bad as most make them out to be they would have never survived. IMO Walmart is in a precarious position right now with some decisions that have been made in regards to the way stores are operated. They will either see the light and make a course correction or will slowly go the way of so many other great companies that just got too big. If you or anyone has a legit question,ask. I'll give a straight answer. As I said, I'm not there anymore so I can and will say what I know to be the truth about Walmart.
