June 15, 201313 yr Votto with another mental mistake, Homer with two wild pitches for two gift runs and Phillips don't run out a ground ball. This team just makes to many mistakes and gives games away to be in the elite teams. They will never win anything big in the playoffs with Dusty at the helm. Reds are wasting good talent.

Hahaha it's like everytime something goes wrong it's Dusty's fault... He didn't throw the pitches. He wasn't the one running. He wasn't being stupid at first base. Come on man. It's a 162 game season. Bad/weird things happen. I agree though if try don't win anything in the playoffs they've wasted the talent they have.

No hustle is a reflection of the manager. Bull Pen issues is a reflection of the manager. When we play the Cardinals, how many players do you see not run out a ball and just stand at first and get picked off. Plus, it is the Reds two best players making the mistakes. I have always said it and will until he is gone, Reds will not win in the Playoffs with Dusty. What is the Reds record against good teams? If I am wrong I will admit it but this is may feeling.

So your best players make bonehead plays and it's the managers fault? That actually should show everyone how bad their "not good" players are. That explains a lot more than saying Votto got picked at 1B because of Dusty.
June 16, 201313 yr Players play are a reflection of the manager. If you have a low key manager, players are going to play low key. A firey manager has his players playing with emotion and playing on the edge. Also knowing a bone head play is going to be addressed in the dugout instead of a pat on the back.

Well i guess 13 games above .500 with this low" key manager isn't good enough...
June 16, 201313 yr Brandon Phillips is a great player. But when people ask me about him 10 years from now, I will say incredible defensive player, solid hitter who would hit anywhere in the lineup to help the team but his career was tainted by many incidents of lack of hustle. He often puts style above effort. For him, it's not just about getting the job done - it is about looking good while you do it. How many times have we had this discussion about Phillips not hustling? I really don't understand it. You have 4 or 5 times a game where you have to run hard on the bases. You can't sluff that off as one play. It is one play that may have led to runs in an inning that may have turned a loss into a win. That loss dropped the Reds into 3rd place in their division. The next lack of hustle incident is going to be Phillips nonchalantly taking his time on a play on defense and a player getting on base because of it. He is a great, and often irritating, player.

I believe they are second in the division...
