Mark Evans, played on the 76 state championship team, I believe he went on to play at Miami of OH

Mika Lockard, without a doubt would have been D1 had it not been for an ACL tear

Mike Botts, started for Louisville as a true freshmen at nose,

 

Marty Lenhoff who is now Mayor of Elsmere got drafted in baseball by Yankees and played college football at Northwestern graduated in Early 70's from LLoyd. Geoff Long, older brother of Jon Long professional baseball for St. Louis Cardinals when Roger Maris played are two more athletes that have to be considered.

 

He played his first 3 years at KC. He played a total of 10 years in the NFL.

Tim Wheeler...Outstanding football player that won a state championship in 1975 at Ludlow and then transfered to Lloyd and won another state championship in 1976.

Good call, forgot all about "Wheels" he was a beast, he went to Murray and if I am not mistaken started all four years.

Great call on both, I think Geoff was all state in both football and baseball during his time at Lloyd, first round draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school, career ended when he blew out his knee in Fenway Park while playing for the Chicago White Sox.

WOW I have been away for awhile with the new job and all. Well I will say this you can't pick only 3 best. You would have to break them down by every 5 or 10 years. Like some say Jon and Geoff Long were great players in the 60's, I will be partial I also thought my brother Ken Dunhoft led NKY in scoring and yards in 1968-69 season at Lloyd. Someone mentioned the 70's well you had David Smith, Mika Lockard, Mike Botts, Moe Molitor, that 76 team was loaded. You could go on and on about players like Marty Lenhof also kicked the longest field goal at N'Western his freshmen year. Jelani Brandon, Charles Sheffied, there are so many I can't remember them all. Someone mentioned Jerry Klein, Billy Lyons, Greg Kunkel and alot of these atheletes played several sports in High School. Thanks Gryche11 for the comment. Billy Brumback would have to be a top quarterback on that list! He was the starting quarterback of the 1965 State Championship team! Played for the University of Louisville.

85 team was very good. Lot of good players on that team, several of whom have been mentioned. Luke was certainly the most dynamic player on that team and likely the best overall as well. Stud athlete.

 

86 team was very good team as well. Lloyd was good in 90 as well. Had several very good teams in the early to mid 90's but ran into the Beechwood machine in class A. Best chance to win state for Lloyd, may have been in 95, when they made the AA semi's but ran into Breathitt County during their great run.

 

Made a good playoff run in 2004ish, but that team wasn't nearly as good as any of the previously mentioned squads.

Lloyd grads Randy Lee and Nick Gregory help coach the South Kenton Starters.
