I hate putting RB's/QB's only on the list, but that is the nature of the beast. My top 3:

It is really hard to argue with that list but I am going to think on it. I will say those were the first three that came to mind for me too.

I like Hellbird bringing up Nussbaum. To expand the discussion beyond the backfield, who are the top linemen?

 

A couple recent linemen I really enjoyed watching were Dominic Maniello and Brady Slusher. Slusher made more downfield blocks by himself than you see out of most teams in a season and was a great defensive end. Another recent one would be Drew Davis, great defensive lineman. Going back a few years, Matt Mercer needs to be considered.

Gary Nussbaum is who I was thinking of, forgot his first name and is why I put it in ()'s

 

He was the absolute best I've ever seen then or since then at the high school level. He got hurt his senior year which affected him some in college, but he was awesome. I remember kickoff after kickoff going through the uprights.

Kicked for Eastern Ky. in their heyday in the 1980's. He won a national championship or two while on the team.

In football – Earned a career 4,829 yards rushing and 73 touchdowns…Was a member of the 1991 & 1992 Class A State Football Champions…Received the 1992 Roy Kidd Kentucky Class A Player of the Year…Named 1992 Courier Journal First Team All-State…Named 1992 Associated Press First Team All-State…Named 1992 Lexington Herald Top 22…Selected to play in Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star game.

But I still have to put Gary Nussbaum as one of the top 3.

 

So seldom does a kicker take over a game as much as Gary did and I know there probably won't be any other school that will list a kicker as one of their top 3 players ever which is a statement in itself how great he really was.
