But I still have to put Gary Nussbaum as one of the top 3.

 

So seldom does a kicker take over a game as much as Gary did and I know there probably won't be any other school that will list a kicker as one of their top 3 players ever which is a statement in itself how great he really was.

 

Gary was before my time but I know him well as our sons have competed against each other growing up. Great guy and I heard he was a stud at Beechwood in the 70's and went on to play at EKY.

In the 1997 title game, not only did Holderman contain Johnson while blocking him as OT, Holderman also had 2 sacks, forced 2 fumbles one of which he recovered and had 3 tackles for loss.

 

After Beechwood won the title in 1997 with Holderman being a huge factor, Mike Yeagle's playoff record as head coach was 34-1 with 6 state championships in seven seasons. :wideyed:

Greg Menetrey went to Campbell and does Tough Mudders these days.

 

Dustin Menetrey (Tree) was flat out awesome, and probably every bit as good as Morlidge, Tackett and Berger. So tough to call.

Agreed. Hergott was the starting QB on 3 consecutive state title teams and played at UK and UC. He has to be considered the #1 QB in Beechwood history.

Yes he did and was part of 2 National Championships with EKU

Kicked for Eastern Ky. in their heyday in the 1980's. He won a national championship or two while on the team.

That is a fair statement. He was put together back then, and still is now. We workout together from time to time when he's in town.
