I think folks will be shocked to see how much production this year's Conner team will get from J. McKeehan and A. Way. Both will have big years. Loney also coming along fine after successful knee surgery. Make no mistake, this team will have weapons at multiple positions. Conner also participating in numerous 7o7's. This will help with QB/Receiver timing in a big way. Gonna be a fun year in Hebron.

 

I may be a little bias here but I think you are correct, the Cougars Defense is going to surprise some folks and the lines have been rebuilt. Conner will again be a force to recon with in NKY and hopefully the state!!

I'm guessing 64 is looking to explore new opportunities OR someone from 64 has a personal/family relationship with one of the programs.

I think it's pretty cool. This has turned into a very healthy rivalry in just a few short years. Should be a great crowd also with it being on a Thursday night. I like it. Great for both programs.

I agree, this has quickly become one of the best rivalries in the area. It really started heating up back in 2011 and last year may have been one of the biggest crowds I've seen for a regular season game locally in quite sometime. I don't know if the rivalry will mean as much in the future as it does currently but it is a fun game to attend.

 

Many of these boys played together at the pee wee level since 1st grade and has made this game even more meaningful. I don't know if we can say that down the road now that some of the schools now have their own 7'th and 8'th grade teams, but for the boys in the JR's and SR's in the program now have known eachother since 1st grade and played together since then. If Cooper didn't open a lot of their current players would have gone to Conner which makes this rivalry even more exciting.

 

When growing up, the rivalry for me was always Beechwood and Cov Cath. only due to the location of both schools. But those schools were never in the same district which makes the Conner and Cooper rivalry even more exciting, both being in the same district. I can't wait for the season to start, and this game should be another great one.

As far as predictions for the season? The Cougars will have a tough row to how. They are replacing many key players and The majority of the O-Line. Many of the O-Line lost also were regulars on the D-Line.

 

My reasoning for saying they will have a tough time this year is this: We saw a glimpse of this years squad in The game last season against Scott. Fogle was out, three starting linemen were out as well. Barker was basically left to win the game on his own. He had little help. And there are more guys not returning this year than just the few listed above. That is not a knock on Scott, but in no way should that game had been as close as it was.

 

Conner has some talent coming up, however it is yet to be seen how they will perform at the varsity level. The linemen they have coming up are not the quality of those lost, that will come with time I hope. They don't have a skill player in the same universe as C Fogle, Barker's go to guy, more than one player in the skill positions will have to step up big to fill his shoes.

 

I want nothing but the best this year for CHS, however I realistically see 4, maybe 5 wins. With potential to go 4-6 on the year.

I don't think any opposing coaches will think Conner can't score. With Barker tossing the rock around it will still be tough to stop their offense. Fogle didn't score every TD last year and Barker can run with the best of them. I don't think you will find any coach who isn't going to respect the offense Conner will posses.

 

The big question for Conner will be the same question that haunted them last year and that is can their defense stop teams?

 

Conner's offense wasn't the problem at all last year, just look at the points they put up. It was the defense allowing so many points that cost them and if they can improve on their defense then they will be very tough to stop.
