Are you serious? A man was shot and killed by a police officer in his own driveway. The man committed no crime. Those are facts. How was it not an error in judgment?

But what if they did? What if the cruiser was in his line of sight? This may in fact be poor judgement on the part of the man that was shot.

He was still on his property. It isn't against the law for a legally carrying person to have their firearm in their hand.

 

There have to be consequences, yes even for police, for killing innocent people on their own property. We can't just give the cop the benefit of the doubt simply because he's in LE.

So again, if that's the case, how's he supposed to know the people making the commotion across the street while his neighbor's alarm is blaring are cops?

Or if we are just making snappy comments, we could say it was a call of a felony in progress and an unknown subject picked up a gun and approached the responding officers.

I am speaking in general terms about normal police protocol while emphasizing the fact we all know a police officer when we see one.

 

The ultimate "problem" with the investigation is going to be we will never fully know what the deceased knew, understood, perceived, etc.

 

I will say there will be multiple theories on why the deceased put the gun down and picked it back up and most of them probably will not help his case and will help the officers explanations.
