Are autopsy's only for determining cause of death, or do you need to perform an official one to extract shells as well for evidence? Can they tell by how the bullets entered the body whether the shooter was left handed or right handed? Approximate height of the shooter?

They'll be able to determine what, if any, drugs (prescribed or otherwise) were in the victim's system. I don't know what, if anything, they'll be able to tell about the shooter, though. My guess is that the autopsy wouldn't help much in that regard. If they extract the bullets, it might help track down the gun's registered owner.

I just can't see the offenders choosing to exact revenge on someone who wasn't even alive when the initial murder took place...but I suppose (pretty much) every rumor is worth ruling out at the beginning of the investigation.

Something is not adding up there. My guess is we are either going to see a quick arrest by Fort Mitchell PD or at least a pretty quick announcement about the identity of the suspects.

I didn't think there was much, if any logic to the rumor...but like you said, in many cases, maybe looking for logic is an exercise in futility in circumstances like these.

I'll say that by next week we will hear the boyfriend was arrested or someone he and/or she knew.
