Does anyone know the victim of the homicide?

And is Twitter the proper way for such an important official to disseminate information?

I have a friend who lives in that apt complex.

And???

Guru, as someone who was in law enforcement, my question is how can they know right away it was not a random act? To me that would take some time to conclude.

This is not the first time I have heard that Sanders tweets information related his position as Commonwealth attorney. IMO, Twitter is not the proper forum for him.

Twitter is the best source for breaking news. I have no problem with Rob Sanders or anyone else reporting via Twitter. Ideally, I think he should post a link to their official website / press release, but it's not a big deal in my opinion.

In any case you have to follow the available information/evidence so one can only assume the police have a pretty firm grip of the events and therefore felt confident (or at least Twitter man felt confident enough to tweet) enough to go on the record about the case.

And I would ask you and anyone this question, why would you think the homicide is random? In general terms this screams the victim and the perpetrator had some kind of relationship and/or knew each other.

I guess I am just long in the tooth, I don't believe a personal Twitter account (assuming that is what it is) is the right place to announce anything. Didn't we have something similar when Sanders used his Twitter account to "bash" Sarah Jones and Eric Deters?

Maybe if it was the official Twitter account of his office and connected to his official website it would be fine like CC suggested.

And for everyone, I don't know Rob Sanders and I do not have any issue with him other than I think he needs to re-examine his use of Twitter.

In this case I have no problem with the tweet. If it's something he would say to a reporter then the fact he tweeted it is immaterial.

So you think it is okay for Sanders to use his personal Twitter account to post random things about serious criminal investigations his office is involved in alongside tweets about music, working out, some profanity, a shot at a local lawyer, his gambling habits, etc?

Yes.

I would have an office Twitter account if I were him.

If I was his boss I would insist on it.
