Stud this so called weak schedule talk is getting old. They have played E-Town, Layfayette, Cov-Cath, New-Cath and Scott all on the road. They still have 5 top 25 team yet to play this season. So if you say this along with only 5 home games is a weak schedule and then tell me way.

Weak was harsh, but they have played no where near the level of a schedule Holmes has.

I'm the one that brought it up and my question really was, have they won any really challenging games? They lost to E-town and Lafayette. I know they have a challenging schedule ahead.

They beat Cov-Cath in a close one and New-cath at their place. Which both of those games are big because of the Hype of the games. Also BigStud did make the comment about the weak schedule it was not to you.

Ok that is your right to say that. But if you look at the Schedules Holmes is playing 5 Top 25 teams this season. Highlands is playing 9 top 25 teams. Also we both can say that the 9th is not the deepest it has been in past years. So the schedules weaken just a little because of that.

I do not understand why anyone would questions the Birds' schedule this winter, especially after the first 8 games. They are a very solid BB team and their schedule is a good one. IMO they have been a contender to win the 9th since the beginning of the season and they have the shown the ability to do so. IMO, Dixie has played the toughest schedule of anyone in the 9th and we may see them reap benefits from that come tourney time. They could make for a very difficult first round draw. On any given game, several teams could get red-hot from Trey-ville and pull an upset. But, it's unlikely to win the region unless you can get some points in the paint consistently. Because they can score inside and out consistently, I think that HHS, CovCath and Holmes have the best shots at winning plus they each have some darn good players. I always tend to pull for the underdog since it doesn't look like we will have a dog in the fight this year. Maybe this will be the year we get a surprise winner, but I doubt it.

Evans... QUIT  apparently that young man isn't a big fan of being disciplined!! Along with about 6 other players.

wow, that is good for the coach. I went to high school with Brauch(lloyd coach) and even though they are not having much success... you have to definitely nip that in the bud and set the example of who is in charge.

Keep dreamin brother...thats a good thing, but the cheerleader part? Thats a stretch

Not that it matters, but this is much less of a stretch then Ludlow's run through the field at Rupp. Actually, I won't say anything else, the fact that you decided to respond to that shows just how serious people are about sports around here, and how quick they are to put down others.

HHS is a great team but IMO there schedule is not too strong compared to the other top teams. The wins vs. CCH and NewCath are good but those two are not strong teams compared to the schedules of Holmes (Shelby Co., soon to be NCH (if that is still on) and I'm sure a few more if a Holmes fan could help me out) and CCH (Elder (top 5 Ohio), Owensboro Catholic (top 10 KY), LexCath (top 15) and soon to be Scott Co.) Not to mention a CCH win over Lexington Lafayette. Either way Highlands did beat CovCath and IMO those 3 are the only with a legitamate shot.

Holmes has also played Boyd Cty, Trinity, Ballard, Pendleton, We are still playing NCH next Sunday, CCH, Scott County, I am not sure who they played in the Pikeville Tourney that they won, So it is safe to say that Holmes will be battle tested come Regionals.

Once again, Feb 7th will be a good measuring stick for Highlands and Holmes. When Regional tourney comes around one of the 3 teams(cch, Highlands, Holmes) will have to beat the other two to advance to Rupp. A dogfight in the semi's could benefit the odd man out.

That is what I am thinking and was thinking last year....that Conner would be an easy victory and Dixie would be a tough win for Holmes....how wrong was I?

Dixie has by far played the toughest schedule in the 9th. Listen to these games: @ Scott County twice, @ Pendleton County, @ St. Xavier (Ohio), @ George Rogers Clark, @ Highlands, @ Covington Catholic, @ New Cath, vs. Eastern, vs. DeSales, vs. Ballard, vs. Henry Clay, and with games against Holmes and Fern Creek still to come, that is 12 games against top 25 teams in the state, and 13 if you count St. Xavier. I would think they will be tournament tested.

Do people really believe teams like Ludlow are going to win the 9th region!!??

If your referring to last years regional, you were only half wrong. Conner wasn't an easy W. The second part was right Holmes had to hit a game winner to win.

I'm not saying Highlands isn't good, because they are. But have they had much serious competion this year?

Highlands has played 5 top 20 teams this year. They also just beat Bryan Station who plays the same style as Holmes. They'll be ready come Tuesday. Oh Yeah and they only have 5 home games.

I like Highlands' chances this year. The 9th region seems to be as balanced as it ever has been. A darkhorse could certainly emerge, especially with a favorable draw. Quite a few times the top 2 teams have wound up in the same side of the bracket, leaving the other side wide open for any team to make it to finals. Are all the regionals set up with a blind draw?
