That would be very unusual in a big tournament like this one.. More likely scenario would be Woods perhaps playing up on a junior team.

Hagen Tyler from Lville MagiC 16s had the highest scoring game of the tournament with 37 points in only 3 qtrs. Averaged 18 ppg for tournament and nobody is talking about him. And I have been told that Jordan Fox is leaving hoop Dreams. A new AAU team is being put together for the summer season starting in July. More details to come later but this team is gonna be loaded. 17u

 

I haven't read a single thing about Tyler in any of the coverage, Generally speaking, most of the players that get the hype at these type of events are exceptionally athletic and/or big, or at least (big) for their position.They "look" the part. Most probably had big time dunks, at least in warm ups lol. If they differed from what I just described, yet still received attention, they likely came in already well known (such as Bach). Lastly, there were a couple of players that received some attention that did surprise me, but mostly because their team did so well. That's the way Tyler would've received more coverage - if the Magic 16's had performed better.

I'm somewhat familiar with Tyler and he is a nice player. I wouldn't be too distraught. Here's an analogy I will use. If Archie Goodwin (UK) and Seth Curry (Duke) had played in this tournament early in high achool, the "media" would've been all about Goodwin. And Curry would've been lucky to have received a mention - unless his team fared really well. I'll take Curry everyday, and so would Coach K.

Another interesting note. I see Tyler as a 2 in college, a position he already plays. If you read the coverage about some of these players, you'll see kids whose natural position is PF but who are referred to as as guards. Why? Because they may be 6'3" which is a guard height at the college level! That transition - going from the skill set of a PF to the skill set of a guard - is highly unlikely at this stage.

The bolded all appear to have played for Hoop Dreams-Maxey last year and won the 16s in the State AAU tourney. Bach joined Hoop Dreams last Wednesday apparently and Tyler was with the Magic. Have these guys already left their current teams or is this just a July team?

Have you seen them in person? Will you be there in Atlanta? I'm pretty familiar with the different national rankings and don't recall a top 10 team with which I wasn't familiar. Please get me the team name as I will be there watching Hoop Dreams 15U. I will def make a point to watch him and his team!

 

Also, saw where KY Heat will be there (15U). Anyone know if their players missing from last weekend will be there? Will they have their full squad?
