What a great move for both Cooper and Nicole! She has the opporunity to establish "her" program at a big school. Make no mistake, Cooper found a Coach (and staff) that will not be dictated by parents...count on it! If the talent is there, they have immediate success. If the talent isn't there "Yet", Nicole will get the most out of what she has and you can bet she'll be fair.

While I would say that ND has underachieved historically to say they will never win another 9th Region is silly. They will be the favorites next year and should contend every year. If NCC can do it consistently with 1/3 of the girls, ND should and will win more Regional Championships

Pius and blessed sac and crescent dont produce many girls basketball players. They put the balls away early worried about spring volleyball. NDA only good when they luck out and get a Voskuhl every 10 years.

Just my opinion, but after this year coming year, they could struggle a little. Yes, they have Smith after this year, but I'm not sure what they have to compliment her.

 

And I wouldn't be so fast to say they will be the favorite this year. They lose the best player in the region and a very good coach. I know they have a lot coming back, but sometimes its that one or two pieces that were a huge part to the entire puzzle. Without having to focus on Voskuhl, the attention will go to other "role" players that didn't have that attention last year. They could be very good again, but time will tell.

 

I also think NCC with have something to say about number 1.

A little inaccurate. When you throw BS, Pius, St Agnes and St Joes together, they may have the same numbers as Gray, Camp Ernst, Turkeyfoot, etc. The issue with volleyball is that the clubs really force the kids to make a choice early. The better vb players happen to be the better hoops players. Take them out of the mix and the talent dilutes. Now, i have seen some girls out at SOAS from 5th and 6th grades who have chosen hoops, so it may just be a cyclical thing.
