I'm not sure that is best for him. He's thrown his fastball about 78% of the time in his two starts. He's got a very good fastball, especially for a lefty but it has averaged around 92 mph. He's not going to get by throwing that high of a percentage of fastballs as teams get a second look at him. Here's a list of starting pitchers over the last 10 years that have thrown that high a percentage of fastballs: Justin Masterson, Aaron Cook, Derrick Lowe, Jaret Wright and Daniel Cabrera. He's going to have to improve his other pitches to have long-term success--I'm not sure that he's best served doing that against Major League hitters.

 

It's worked ever since his senior year in college. I say deal with that problem if it arises.

Because he is a better pitcher than Leake. Going into the season Arroyo was tied with the most wins by any NL pitcher since 96.

Look at his career numbers. I don't care if he can't top 70. He's a better pitcher than Leake is right now.

Not arguing he needs a 2nd pitch. I'm saying keep him in the rotation till teams figure him out. That could be 2-3 months down the road.

Because he depends on that fastball way too much. He'll have to try and reach back and ramp it up in tight spots because he can't rely on his 2nd and 3rd pitches. That's how you end up having arm surgery.

Since the trade from Boston he has the most wins out of any pitcher in the NL. He has a huge contract and no options.

Yes, bullpen is only one getting wins right now anyways. Reds don't seem to want to hit till after the starter leaves the game.

I don't think either of them is going anywhere soon. Cueto is probably not back until June 1 and even then will require a couple of starts not going very many innings. That means a decision does not have to be made until mid-June. And that's if no one else comes up with arm trouble. By mid June it may just sort itself all out.
