Do you want to get into the discussion behind the math on what people pay in and what they actually end up getting? Even better we could discuss medicad. Medicare and Social Security are what they are. They are programs with good intentions that as currently being run can not continue to survive. But your statement also ignores the fact not everyone pays for these programs.

They are run like welfare programs unfortunately. And unlike SS Medicare has never been 'overfunded'.

 

The current track and funding is simply unsustainable. That is not to say it should be scrapped - it never would be. But funding (taxes) will have to go up. That will drag the overall economy without no dought. Earnings statements trends are indicating 1Q will be (unexpectedly) bad. The 2% 'increase' did not help that. Medicare will need more than a 2% hike on the funding side to start to close the gap.

Hmmmm, I'm willing to bet that more illegal immigrants pay nothing into SS and Medicare etc. as well as taxes due to them being paid under the table etc.

Here is what gives me a good laugh everytime I hear one of the Obamacare supporters talk about the bill. When they say right now we have 50-60 million people in this country without healthcare, they always seem to leave out the fact that even after Obamacare takes effect that there will still be millions of people without healthcare because they still can't afford it. They aren't giving away free healthcare to everyone, you still have to pay for it. So why don't 6 million people matter to Obama and the Obamacare backers? Shouldn't every American Citizen matter? For those that think I'm wrong, I will explain some things about Obamacare that some may not know about.

I'll try to keep it simple

 

Under the new bill...

1. Each person must have healthcare, if they do not have healthcare they will be "taxed" $95 a year in 2014 and 2015, that tax will increase in 2016 to $695 a person that doesn't have insurance.

 

2. There will be more people (millions) added to Medicaid. Today a family of 4 making $23,000 ($11,000 a single) or less a year are eligible for Medicaid, under the Bill that will include families that make $30,000 a year or less ($14,500 a single) and this was to be paid for by each State, however many states said they will not pay for this added expense so if you make between $23,000 and $30,000 you will be without insurance if you have to buy it yourself.

 

Basically there really isn't anything in the bill that will "Lower" the cost of insurance, and those that do not have it now unless they are currently receiving medicaid, will not be able to afford it when Obamacare goes into affect later this year and on top of that will also be "Taxed" for not having insurance.

 

So please show us how this bill will garuntee coverage for everyone again and how it will be more affordable so people without insurance now can afford it by the end of the year?
